Area 88. The main character, Shin, is, of course, Japanese, but this is very unique in Area 88. Other than his creepy stalker,Makoto, who photographs his every move, there isn't anyone else. So the plot goes to begin with goes to Makoto arriving in Area 88, which is, if you couldn't guess, is a military base for fighter pilots. Shin isn't willingly a pilot, but we don't find this out until v.2. Makoto, as it turns out, is told he cannot take pictures, which of course isn't happenin, Makoto is snapping pics every three seconds. Shin is the best of the best pilots, for the best of reasons: he wants to go home and marry his girlfirend, who, actually is pretty cute. And Shin is the silent type to the extreme. Though he does talk to the Indian kid who looks like a girl(but isn't, there aren't any girls in area 88, not yet..)and who helps Makoto find the commander. Anyway, this anime has been out for a very long time so look it up with google, or just skip straight to Amazon. And there were only 12 episodes, so it should be easy on the wallet no matter what you decide to roll with.
