Don't Do It

I was sitting with Cujo, just enjoying the peace and quiet when the door opened. Aki knocked before peeking his head in, "Deichi's awake," he informed me. I nodded and helped Cujo to his feet. I wondered what the story would be about Phyllis. I was a bit worried, though I would never admit that aloud.

I was growing too soft. Since when did I care about others? Probably since Phyllis went out of her way to befriend me, even though she knew how mean I could be, and Cujo trusting me enough to give me his blood. He did the unthinkable without asking for anything in return.

I sighed, pulling myself out of the pity pool I was drowning myself in, as we followed Aki down the hall and into his room. Opening the door, I found Deichi running towards the window.

"Where do you think you’re going, Deichi?” I hissed as I made my way over to the window after making sure Cujo would be able to stand on his own. I wasn't just going to let him run off, not when I needed answers. "What's going on? You have some explaining to do." I crossed my arms over my chest and looked at him expectantly.

"I don't have to tell YOU anything," he spat at me.

I narrowed my eyes. "When it has to deal with Phyllis, oh yes you do," I threatened him, taking a step closer. I was ready to beat him if need be. I was quite skilled in the art of torturing others. Something I had learned from years on the road.

He glared at me, still unhappy about the current situation. But, I felt that he wasn't really mad at me, just taking out his anger on me.
