Kitty Chapter 3; Maria
Kitty and Victoria had formed a friendship over the weeks they had been together. Kitty was teaching Victoria the basic things she needed to know. Defence and attack. How to use her powers. Using her senses. Everything from combat to senses to powers was being taught. Victoria was a fast learner and wasn’t like most people in her old town, despising vampires and all other preternatural creatures for simply being what they are. She accepted her life like it was a good thing not a bad.
Though she would deny it, Kitty had softened a little since she met Victoria. Teaching had brought a new perspective to the way she saw things. She did not want her student, Victoria, to learn bad habits as it would reflect badly on the mentor, herself. Victoria also brought humour and a sense of normality into the house.
Victoria sniffed learning the difference of the smells of humans, vampires, shapeshifters, lycanthropes, and other preternaturals.
“So…” said Victoria “that would be… human right?”
“Yes” agreed Kitty. She would never voice it, but she was very proud of Victoria’s progress. She was learning much faster then Kitty ever did. Kitty had been far too stubborn and didn’t like being old what to do and refused to believe she was wrong unless it was proven beyond all doubt. Kitty eyes shone with a rare blue light. She hadn’t been truly happy for many years but Victoria had brought a new light and hope into her life.
Kitty smiled, please with the progress Victoria had made.
“You know,” she said “We’ve done enough for the day, let’s go home”
“Okay”
“Good job on today’s lesson” Kitty congratulated Victoria. She looked at her surprised. Ignoring the look, Kitty walked towards her house, deciding that she should go visit Maria. She had been her friend in the past.
Circumstances had driven them apart. Kitty had been offered a contract to kill Maria’s parents. Kitty told Maria that she was going to turn it down. The next morning they were dead, but Kitty had not done it. Maria didn’t believe Kitty when she pled innocent.
But so much time had past and Maria might be willing o believe Kitty now.
“Victoria!” Kitty called out across to the new vampire. “I’m going to introduce you to an old friend of mine!”
“Okay!” she yelled back
“Come pack some clothes, we might stay overnight”
“Yep” Victoria started making her way to the house.
Ten minutes later both were packed and ready to leave. Kitty had rung, hiring a car and driver for the trip. The car pulled up and the two vampires and the imp demon hurried over, putting their bags in the boot before getting in the back seat. Kitty gave the driver the address and directions before settling back into the seat.
Pulling into the driveway, Kitty looked out at the evening sky. A few stars already shone, half-hidden beneath the city lights. Kitty flung open the door, pausing to give money to the driver, before steeping onto the smooth driveway. Victoria hurried after her, going round to the back and grabbing their bags from the boot. Kitty didn’t bother to help.
Kitty walked up to the front door. Not bothering to knock, she flung it open. She stood framed in the doorway for a fraction of a second before stepping smartly inside. Ju-Ji floated after timidly, knowing what had happened between them. Victoria brought up the rear, laden with bags.
“Ria!” Kitty said smiling, to the angry looking woman staring at them up the hallway.
