Hello there, this is Katana, also known as Kat in some circles. I'm your friendly neighborhood twenty-two-year-old illustrator/writer whose sarcasm is second to none and harboring the ability to verbalize the parentheses in stories. I drink coffee and draw like an addict and am liable to get you into things that I like. Currently the wielder of a BFA in Illustration and a minor in English.

Questions? Comments? Death threats? Feel free to PM or message me in some iteration. I'm always around, you just don't know it.

I'm in angst mode.

I can join bell in the camp of "we're just friends" when it comes to the boys we thought might like us.

I wouldn't be so upset if it wasn't for the fact that...well, I kinda felt like he led me on, I guess.

Also, my comrade in relationship angst is now with a boyfriend, and pratically shoving it in my face. I know she doesn't mean to, but it's just...Well, she's the one that told me, then immediately does the heel-turn and talks about her date.

So...that's what's up.

I'm going to just stop caring now and wait until college. P:

Man...

You know those days where you just wanna go out and do something, but you really have no idea what? You just wanna...get out of the hou -

...

Um, see ya at Movie Sign, I just got an idea.

*THIS POST BROUGHT TO YOU BY USELESS UPDATES. BRINGING USELESS UPDATES TO YOU FOR OVER THIRTY SECONDS!*

Edit: Went out, got lunch, and bought:

As I stood there in front of the shelf, trying to make a decision between 2 and 5, it came down to this logic:
"Well, volume two has the Shorts disc, but volume five has copious amounts of Mi - *grabs set* - ke."

Kat found her niche

AKA, an art post.

I'm in 2D Commercial Art this semester, a class I've wanted to take since sophomore year. It's basically what I want to do for my career, and mingles both traditional and computer skills.

First project was fashion design, in which we had to design a dress out of "non-conventional materials". I chose magazines [Anime-Insider, to be precise] and duct tape. Got a 99 on the design board, and the actual dress and stuff is due sometime in December [it's the final, but for me and some other seniors who got out of finals, it's like...another project].

Second and third projects [received at the same time] were to create an illustration go with a magazine article and then to design a poster for the career specialist. Got a 95 on the illustration [the real version's background was a killer] and a 98 on the poster. I got to teach the class how to do some stuff in Photoshop [I used the image I have up in my header to teach them, lulz] and have become the guru at it all. ._.; Though it does give me an excuse to bring Piers the lappy to school every A day.

Projects four and five are advertisements. One is to be done traditionally, the other in Photoshop using an actual photo [ahaha]. I chose to go with the Zune, since I own one, love it, and like to mess around with it. XD And any opportunities to convert iPodders...

While I was sitting in class, inking away, I had this sudden realization: I totally and completely love the class and the stuff we're doing. Like, I'm in my zone with this art class. I'm being creative, but it actually has that whole 'it could pay off' vibe to it. It's amazing that something I love doing is going to be my career.

I was kind of worried when I really, really thought about what I wanted to study in college. I was afraid that it would lose my interest and I would have nothing to fall back on ['cause I really don't]. But in that moment, it hit me how much I do love it.

With this in mind, I'm attempting to try and wavier my gym credit for next semester to do an independent study and continue doing commercial art stuff. My argument is that it's something actually *useful* for my college studies and all that. Building off of that, it's becoming extremely likely that the portfolio I'll be submitting come April won't be drawing/painting based, but rather a 2D design one. If I do that, not only can I turn in stuff I've done for class, but also stuff I've done freelance.

Kat is happyyyy~ 8D

THE PLOT'S STARTING TO MAKE SENSE RUUUUN!

Pardon my nerdout

I can almost die happy now.

I've already been set on a mission/promise to get Trace's signature for my friend Ashlyn, who is a closet sci-fi geek and a Crow fangirl. ["I promise I'll get his signature for yo -" "YOU BETTER! ...I mean, thanks. =D"> I can do my best to get stuff for Christmas presents, but I make no promises 'cause I don't want to be a pest. -3-

Totally gonna try and get Joel to sign my [non-bloody] Gizmonic necklace. ...Huh, that might be a hard one...wire...

Solitaire

Tuesday, I had my laptop at school for commercial art. While hanging around during tech club, I whipped it out to pass the time between when we were done to when we were going to eat dinner...Anyways, I decided to fire up solitaire and I've been kinda-sorta addicted to it ever since.

"Kinda-sorta" meaning "whenever I'm bored, I play it". But good God I get into it. Yet...I don't remember shuffling around cards so much as I do now. Maybe it's just programming, who knows...

Work last night was interesting. We had crappy weather during the day, which I think hindered our opening business, but we picked up by seven. The waitresses were complaining about the lack of customers, but their numbers were actually pretty good. It was probably the way it was spread...meh.

My joke at work is how good I am at tending to the salad bar: "My people have tended salad bars since the Middle Ages, so I feel it's in my blood." Our owners, being cheap, cut out the salad bar kid, which we were in desperate need of last night. Juggling between keeping it filled, bussing tables, setting tables, watering/beading...yikes, it was a mess. Managed to do it all, though.

Apparently, the waitresses brought up to the owners how "good" I am at salad bar. ._.; What the crap kind of skill is that?

The rankings have been shifting around a bit. When they were first introduced, OM,P [lulz] was rated at 23. Then it was 33. Then 31. Then 26. Now it's back to 23. Hur.

School play night, so I'll be off doing tech stuff for that.
