Hello there, this is Katana, also known as Kat in some circles. I'm your friendly neighborhood twenty-two-year-old illustrator/writer whose sarcasm is second to none and harboring the ability to verbalize the parentheses in stories. I drink coffee and draw like an addict and am liable to get you into things that I like. Currently the wielder of a BFA in Illustration and a minor in English.

Questions? Comments? Death threats? Feel free to PM or message me in some iteration. I'm always around, you just don't know it.

Image post number 4

Four day weekend due to parent-teacher conferences...so we're currently on day 2. Man is the internet dead...

Yesterday, my mom and I went out for reasons I don't even really know. We went to Borders, where I mainly snapped photos with my cell because...I...could.

...Is it hailing...?

Anyways, pi -

It is hailing.

PICTURES:

- TC, here's a good price on the boxset. I think.
- I lawled. I lawled hard.
- So tempted to buy this for 'gome for Christmas. I didn't even notice the one next to it until I saw the photo. XD
- *fangirl squee*
- *another fangirl squee*
- Non-cell photo: I cleaned my bookcase. Finally.

On a different subject, but still media-related...Anyone hear of Mogulus? It's still in beta, but it's basically like TV in your browser. You can't pause or fast forward or rewind...all streaming and the like. I'm looking into it with a plan for Thanksgiving.

...Okay, I'll divulge the plan.

Dunno about you guys, but my Thanksgivings are boring as hell. We go up to my uncle's house in Wisconsin, where I play the part of the-awkward-youngest-one and either stand around or hide in the basement with the TV. ...Usually the latter, as they have a Mac and crappy internet and I hate both. [They're also the type that go "WHA'CHA DOOOOOING?" when I'm, like, at theO or something.]

Last year, I got out of it 'cause of the Chicago parade. This year, I have a laptop. Anyways, in the Comedy Central days of MST, they ran a 30-hour block of episodes on Thanksgiving, aka, Turkey Day. And now I plan on bringing it back.

What I'd like to do [I'm still hammering out the control board of Mogulus] is to have episodes airing, broken up by specials or shorts or some dead time so people can move around and stuff. I would also like to show MST: The Movie during the evening with maybe a late-night repeat. Yes, I know. Shhh.

Right now I'm uploading the episodes I've got and playing with stuff. The network is called theOtaku Theater 300, or tOT3K for short. If you wanna help out [at this point, uploading episodes], give me and a shout and I'll send you the log-in stuff. Woooh.

Aaaaand on a personal triumph, I got TC to join a certain forum. Hahahaha. Ha. Haha.

...I have to work tonight...

Musings On A Satellite

A little shamefully, I present...a...fanfic. Yikes. Read it if you want, or wander off if you so desire; it makes little difference to me. The logistics of this one are pretty simple: Mike's killing time by wandering about and is randomly t...

That great divide

I can't vote. Go underagers!

There's a line, in any fandom I'm involved in, that I usually don't cross. What is it? Fanfiction. I mean, reading it is a bit out of the norm for me, though definitely not unheard of. No...what's the ultimate step? Me writing it.

And even then, there's two categories. If I ever do write a fanfic, I typically write with original characters who exist in that universe but rarely, if ever, interact with canon characters. And then there comes the very, very, very rare one where I write purely of the canon. [I think I have...oh man, three?]

The one right now is - I think you can figure this out - of the latter category. And nothing is happening, which, I think, is the only way I could ever write a canon fic. Blargh.

I like it, which is unfortunate because it'll never see the light of day. :D

It's fun, though...

Awesome

I had a great weekend.

- Friday was just cool in and of itself. It was Halloween! I got to run around in cosplay! And dinner in cosplay! And shop in cosplay! Good stuff.

- I officially inducted Missy with MST: The Movie. She loved it. Now we're trying to get her tech club nickname to be Rando. It's friggin' perfect for a tech theater person. "Who can construct sets with his very mind!" Yeap.

- When I came home Saturday, there was a rather large box at my spot at the table. It turned out to be two very sexy boxsets, so I spent yesterday in the bliss of MST and Ouran marathoning. Now I've got two strange robots watching me:

- I got to eat out for the first time in a long time. Yay tacos and deep fried ice cream!

- My dad and I are officially going to go see Cinematic Titanic live when they come to Chicago. *SQUEE* Oh God, I was in nerd bliss while talking about it at the restaurant. Mom was glad we didn't invite her.

- Timber and her Youmacon adventures. Not only this, but this. Hot damn we're awesome. I think we've confirmed our OtaGod status.

- Daylight savings time. Extra hour of sleep. Need I say more?

- I've been lounging in my Dr. F labcoat all weekend. It's become my new hoodie.

- Today, I found fanfiction. I found good fanfiction - both in means of quality and cleanliness. P: That was the afternoon - heated blanket and fanfics. Also, soup and soda for lunch.

- Movie Sign in half an hour.

Ah, bliss.

Halloween

I'll have photos tomorrow, but I'm kinda lazy right now. I'm currently residing on a couch in Missy's basement while I watch her play The Sims: Bustin' Out on the TV. Also, TC is Skypeing with us, so it's all rather amusing.

My mission of throwing out DVDs was a success. The only bad part was that people would try to give them back to me, going "oh hey, you forgot this!" They didn't quite get the whole 'this is for you' concept. Got some recognition, fun fun.

There was an assembly at the end of the day to announce the winners of the school's costume contest and to do random games. We got let out ten minutes earlier than usual, which is always nice. While filing out of the gym, Phil SOMEHOW found me and we talked and walked in circles. We hung out by the entrance doors while waiting for the buses to start loading up. With him having to catch a bus and me meeting up with Missy, Ryu, and Aaron [junior, in band, blah blah] to get an early dinner, we parted ways.

When I hugged him, he hugged me back...picked me up like he does...I had my head nestled right on his shoulder and I...turned and kissed his cheek.

It was fuzzy. I think I got the jawline. He said "What the heck was that?" while laughing, so I'm not sure what the hell that means. My back was already turned and walking way when he said it.

Me, Missy, and Aaron left, picked up Ryu, then hung out at Missy's for an hour before heading out to Golden Corral, a buffet restaurant. Ugh! Ate sooo much! x_x Dropped off Aaron and Ryu, did some random photoshoots on the road, then drove to the commons to hang out. Did some window shopping [in costume, oh yes, me as Dr. F and her as a hobo] and browsed Barnes and Noble, where Missy bought a CD and I agonized over the MST boxset I found. We finished off the night by going to a cafe and bumming with coffee and cocoa and attempting to sort out the weird lives we've got going.

I'm trying to get her to watch the MST movie, like we AGREED. *stares at Missy* But we're playing video games instead.
