Hello there, this is Katana, also known as Kat in some circles. I'm your friendly neighborhood twenty-two-year-old illustrator/writer whose sarcasm is second to none and harboring the ability to verbalize the parentheses in stories. I drink coffee and draw like an addict and am liable to get you into things that I like. Currently the wielder of a BFA in Illustration and a minor in English.

Questions? Comments? Death threats? Feel free to PM or message me in some iteration. I'm always around, you just don't know it.

Thatssa lot

I've been going through some sketchbooks [which I tend to do every now and then] and was struck by a thought: Just how many do I have?

So I proceeded to dump out the two drawers I have of them.

There's twenty-eight in the picture. So from seventh grade, I've had 28 of them. Well, that's not counting the few that are lying around in random places and the notebooks I used to draw in before I finally settled in to carrying around a sketchbook.

Also, have a picture of me and my crazy morning hair, the spiky version. Let's be honest, if anime was reality, my hair'd probably look like that.

I made a dangerous discovery yesterday. And because I have a bank account, and because my Paypal is synced with my account, I purchased two things. Didn't cost a lot, and I'm a bit psycho with keeping the balance in my account, so don't worry about me going crazy. Just having some fun...

Finally, Movie Sign tonight! Be sure to check out the Watercooler post for the password.

A day like a day

My parents went off to see "Jersey Boys" [the 2pm show, which started...an hour ago], so I've been up to my own today.

Last night at work...it was crazy. It was a strange state of busyness, because while there weren't a record-setting amount of people, and we weren't frantic, but we were pretty much always doing something. We had more large parties rather than the normal duos, and they were sticking around longer than usual. But we [the bus kids] were told to stay the latest ever - 9:30 and 10. Normally, we're told to get off between 8 and 9, so yeah.

Also, I think I've gotten over having a fear of the bus girl who worked with me. I thoroughly believed she hated me, since she has a tendency to yell at me [that phrase implying anger over volume] and always seemed rather fed-up with me. She made a quip to me once, and that was before we opened, and then...that was it. We got along and were laughing and joking and duoing very well. At first, she was going to take the later shift, but was so exhausted that I gladly took it off her hands. She ended up sitting at the bar and enjoying a soda.

The restaurant closes at 9, and by that time, it was really quiet. The last half-hour was me cleaning up the last of the tables, wrapping silverware, and finishing up the laundry. I punched out at 10:03, but the waitresses were having a pow-wow at the bar, so I hung out there and we talked about the day...complained...and chatting about random things...It was fun. Because I was there until closing, I got all my tips - at least $30.

Then I had to jet because my parents would be freaking out, since I never work that late. I even called them earlier to say I would be working that late. Hur hur.

I was so tired and sore and completely zoned-out, which showed in the last hour of work. After counting my total tips [between yesterday and last week, I got around $55] and taking a shower, it was...internet time! I wasn't able to sustain conversations very well, so talking to 'gome and timechaser created sparse chats. Something spurred me to Skype with TC, and I ended up staying up later than I thought I would be able to. He promoted Farscape to me, I became increasingly sleepy, and then we discussed MST3K boxsets. [By the way, the 20th Anniversary one has some nifty extras, further concreting me getting it.] After almost falling asleep on TC, I finally coaxed myself to go to sleep.

This morning, I went to Barnes and Noble and bought:

Because I needed another one and had the money.

BeKyoot

My bag came today~! I ended up going in a totally different direction than what people suggested, mainly because the Dancin' Mo bag was on backorder.

Berry Ninja! FOR GREAT JUSTICE! It's darker than they make it look on the site [good thing!] and there's also a little pouch inside. I can stash my Zune and wallet in there. And stuff.

But the impressive part was how much stuff they gave me! Along with the bag and the receipt [which had a hand-written message on it, very nice], there was a temporary tattoo, a button, a postcard, a sticker, and a 25% discount on my next order. It expires October 1st, though. So if any of you order, give me a shout and I'll forward that to you...

And senior year

And so it begins.

I took some pictures of the first day yesterday. Not a lot, most of them from the beginning of the day. This is how my day starts when I head out the door, and then here are some shots of my commute. Lots of nothing, I know.

Also, I have a crappy parking spot. The arrow is where the door is. The gym doors aren't open early, adding to the suckage. [To clarify, I'm about six spots from the end of the lot.] My theory is that the athletes get the good spots and the band kids the bad ones. So far, it's been proven correct.

A Day consist of commercial art, AP art, animal science, and tech theater. I'm loving commercial art so far, am really nervous with AP, annoyed with animal sci [I'm only going to survive because four of my friends are in it and sit by me], and on the fence with tech [though I have another friend in it!] B Day is family living [urrrrrrrrrgh], multimedia [AWESOME], AP English [so far, so fun], and band [woot].

We got sweet new computers for the labs, while the ones previously there FINALLY went to the library. The library computers were so ghetto, they were made by a company that didn't exist anymore. Not to mention they were slower than hell. Anyways, the new comps are amazing, and I discovered that they put on the same web filter as the middle school - meaning that theOtaku isn't blocked! I was able to log in and even go into Chat for a few minutes before I decided to jet to avoid trouble.

Also, there are two phrases we're attempting to spread: I've already got 'dickweed' out there, but we're trying to popularize the phrase 'your pants' [as opposed to the tiring 'your face/your mom']. So far, so good.

I also spread the MST3K love. Found not one, but TWO MSTies yesterday. One is Ryu [I dunno if you guys remember him, username ryu6fw], the other, Ashlyn, a girl in my AP art class, and one I would SO not expect to watch the show. We were singing the Puma Man song today. In tech theater, I showed my buddy Missy [Brian's little sister, hur hur] this clip after attempting to describe it and why I giggled whenever somebody said 'water'. She goes on to tell her brother about this. And today in AP, he kept saying 'agua' and I couldn't stop laughing.

I tried to describe the clip to him in animal science.
Kat: "Can I waste ten seconds of your life?"
Brian: "I'm not sure, do I want to?"
Kat: "Well, it doesn't matter at this point, 'cause you just did."

Also, the teacher is Mr. Robinson. I laughed a bit upon learning this.

Pre day one

...

I have found out that everyone is dead at 6:17am CST. Though seriously, why did I expect anything else.

Oh yeah. The notebook is shaping up quite nicely. Still plenty of extra space, but here's what I got so far. Clean quotes are on the front, "bad" ones on the inside. "Bad" ones have swears and whores. I am not going to get in trouble over something as ridiculous as what's on my notebook. >_>

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO FOR THE NEXT HOUR?! And if this trend continues [which it most likely won't, but still], how am I going to kill time?

Ah, the joys of being my own driver...
