Waffles, call me if you see this post at a decent time. I has your costume too.
A taste of what's to come:
The wig is on the floor about an inch away from my feet. XD
Yeah, I've now grown to obsessive mode.
Here's the plan for ACen:
Friday: Come home, leave at around 4pm. Get there around 5:30-ish, depending on traffic, though I predict it to be fairly decent since I'm going in to the Chicago area rather than out. Get all settled in and then go to the autogarph session that has Quinton Flynn. Get his autograph for Waffles, since I never did get her a birthday present. Chill out the rest of the night.
Saturday: Get up and cosplay! Find Waffles and then party around the dealer's room. Have theOtaku meet-up and be all lolful. Get Vic Mignonga's autograph for the 'gomer. Run around some more. Eat. Hang around some more. Party. Or something.
Sunday: Get up and moar cospaly! Find the 'gome and party party party. Go to another autograph session and get Aaron Dismuke, Travis Willingham, and Caitlin Glass to sign more stuff, then give said object to 'gome as a graduation present. Eat din din with 'gome, chill out, then go home.
Monday: Be dead.
Sounds good to me!
I know I said I was going to PM people last night concerning the ACen meet-up. That totally didn't happen, as I was busy being pissed off at the Lappy for being slow and RAM-less.
So here's how it's going to look...why is it I can type things here and be cool but nowhere else? Maybe I should start writing my essays here too. There's a thought.
----START MESSAGE----
Title: To All ACeners!
Body: This is something of an automated PM. If you posted you name over at the Conventionist world, then this is coming at ya. By responding to this PM, you're confirming your attendance to ACen. This doesn't mean you will be attending the meet-up, though.
Alright folks! We need to jump into action! As for the time of the meet-up, I was thinking between 1pm to 3pm, going no latter than those, due to infiltration of the evening hours. Or something. Your thoughts?
On location, I think it would be best to meet in the Hyatt lobby outside of a place called Sarah's Pantry. It sells drinks and munches, and is an actual store (albeit small) rather than some hole-in-the-wall or a cart. The area around the entrance is large enough for a decent-sized gathering, and we can always move around if we need to.
Now, as for what to do...I have absolutely no idea. 8D; Man, if someone had a laptop and a microphone, we could totally do our own podcast. Or something dumb. Simple games or maybe even bored games? XD Suggestions are needed!
On that note, does anyone have a video camera to actually tape this adventure? I only have one on my digital camera, and it's not going to last very long since it eats up space.
Side Note! If you'd be interested in swapping out phone numbers, then please note so. I realize some may want to keep their privacy (or perhaps they're using a phone that's not 100% theirs), and that's cool. I'll give out my cell number to the list of final people in order for you to get in touch with me.
A week away! Can't wait to see you guys!
----END MESSAGE----
That looks good.
I got a message from my seamstress/oboe idkbff!Analise. The costumes are done for both me and Waffles. Her mom's going to bring them back this weekend (since Analise is in college and stuff), so we'll get them some time next week. Woot.
My adventure to raise money for the senior gifts for band has been a major bust. For some reason, I decided to spearhead the project. We have 14 seniors to buy for, and we're getting coffee mugs, etc. etc. 14 mugs at 10.99 (CafePress) plus shipping brings the total to 166.06. I asked for $5 from each band member, and only about 30 had to give (since there's about fifty sans seniors).
Yeaaaaah, I only got it from thirteen people. Just $101.06 to go. Luckily, the director stepped in and said he'd reimburse for whatever I couldn't get. Thank you Struykman.
The con is a week away(ish)! I'm going to send out PMs and such tonight. I just wish ACen would release their schedule sooner than a day before the convention. Wouldn't that be nice.
Aaaaand I'd rather not think about my money situation for the con. Let's just say I'm glad I get control over my bank account now. Though I do have tips from last week, tomorrow, and Sunday (Mother's Day), plus a paycheck, coming my way. I'll be fine.
Here's hoping I win that contest for the t-shirt.
If you know what that's from, you get automatic win points. Anyways.
Last night was the art club's second annual talent show. I was in attendance, of course, running around the backstage and essentially make sure my friend Brian didn't kill himself. He was operating the curtain and I became his lackey to tell him when to start and stop...etc.
Warning: The following post is drenched in shoujo-ness. Reader discretion is advised.
So before the show, I went to the bathroom and came back through the backstage entrance doors. Two girls, Jess and Margarita (Mita) were on bouncer duty in order to keep out any groupies. Anyways, as I entered, they wondered what my job was, to which I responded "I'm making sure Brian doesn't kill anything". I quite enjoyed Mita's response of "DON'T leave him alone!"
Then something kinda...weird happened.
First off, these two are not really my friends. Well, Mita is, but Jess is more of an acquaintance. You know, those people who you know them, and you can joke with, but they're not really your friend. Secondly, I don't tell either of them anything personal about me. Like, they know of my school life and a bit about my family, but beyond that, nothing.
So when Jess asks me, "Are you and Brian going out?", my brain immediately starts spazzing. Luckily, my mouth and body language didn't.
"Uh...when did this happen?"
"...So you're not?"
To which Mita and I chorused, "No."
...
Then Jess asks, "If he asked you out, would you say yes?"
And something funny happened. As if in normal flow of the conversation - not a pause nor pounce - I reply with a succinct "Yes" before turning around and opening the door backstage. It wasn't awkward or strange...it was what it was.
Mita said she had something to tell me. When I asked what, she said she'd tell me later. I have her tomorrow in art class, and Brian's off on a field trip for photography. I'm kinda...I dunno.
After the show, me, Brian, his sister Missy, my friend Jazz, and freshman buddy Lizzie decided to go to Steak 'n Shake. Jazz and I went in my car and arrived first, grabbing a table and joking around. When the other three arrived, I had another moment...he could've sat anywhere, but he sat next to me, and it was just me and him on the booth side...I'll stop now...
Then we ordered milkshakes, (cheese)fries, and messed with a cootie catcher Jazz made. And I threw fries at Brian.
And that was Katana's shoujo night.
