Hello there, this is Katana, also known as Kat in some circles. I'm your friendly neighborhood twenty-two-year-old illustrator/writer whose sarcasm is second to none and harboring the ability to verbalize the parentheses in stories. I drink coffee and draw like an addict and am liable to get you into things that I like. Currently the wielder of a BFA in Illustration and a minor in English.

Questions? Comments? Death threats? Feel free to PM or message me in some iteration. I'm always around, you just don't know it.

Tea! Art! Featured!

German Club went to this tea-shop for a tasting. It was awesome.

Yesterday was a meeting for the kids taking AP Art next year. Me being one of them, I was, uh, in attendance. And I think I have figured out my focus! It is...drumroll please...

HTML!

Think about it...it's like, this combination of something that is both physical and abstract...totally works. I'm excited. 8D

And finally, I noticed this yesterday. It made me chuckle in sheer stupidity:

Edit: THE ABOVE ARE NOT LINKS. I figured I'll avoid even more confusion. >>;

I need a visual place to think...

I'm trying to think of my money situation. I need a place to, like, jot crap down...

I now control my bank account, so if I do need to dip in there, my parents won't freak out. I'm well-aware that May is probably going to be a hard and possibly painful money-month [well, in the grand scheme of things, it's not, but bear with me].

Whatever, I need to figure out my monies.

  • 4/4 and 4/5 = 5 hours @ $7.50/hour
  • 4/12 = 2 hours (projected) @ $7.50/hour

End of pay-period (I think)

Projected gross earnings: $52.50

  • 4/18 and 4/19 = 4 hours (projected) @ $7.50/hour
  • 4/25 and 4/26 = 13 hours (projected) @ $5.50/hour + tips

End of pay-period (me thinks)

Projected gross earnings: $101.50 + tips

Total gross for month (projected): $154 + tips

I want to win that contest...

Right, a new post...

I got my first paycheck last night.

$14.98 yeah! Though I think I should investigate the bar to see if I do have tips, even though the hostess thinks I don't...but the numbers just don't match up...anyways...

I'm getting on the roll of putting together my ACen things. I have the wig [it needs some lurv, though], which is a step towards completion. I've successfully made the magatama charm, so all I need to do is paint and seal it. I'm going over to my friend's house later this afternoon to get my costume put together [as she has mad sewing skillz and I has none].

On the issue of money, I think that by the end of the month, I'll have around a hundred for ACen, though it looks like I'll have more. *punches wood* This, however, doesn't include my share of the hotel room, which is hovering around $40. But there is one other hope for me...

The school is hosting a contest to design the T-shirt for, like, sports...stuff...I really can't explain it. But first prize, along with getting their design printed and getting two free t-shirts, gets $100. So I promised Waffles that if I win, I'll buy pizza or something. [However, if something unexpected arises and I'm in a money crisis, guess where that prize will go.]

Here's hoping for the best. >>;

Anyways, work news. I have salad bar for, like, three weeks. -3- Then, when I actually bus tables, I'm working with the bus girl who works during the week. I'm a little nervous about it, as I'm not going to meet them until that point, and I have no idea who they are...gah...

Friday night, I discovered that Blythe is a SpongeBob fan. So we were in the back, frantically putting things together, quoting the show. XD; Then last night we kept dropping things...such as red velvet cake, whipped cream, and horse radish. It was odd.

Slightly cracked up

DUDE THE SCHOOL FILTER ISN'T BLOCKING ME LOGGING INTO PLACES AHAHAHAHA

I wonder how long this'll last...

Soooooooooo I finally registered for ACen. I'M A PROCRASTINATOR SORRY. D: I got an e-mail confirming stuff and such, so it all looks good...merr.

Upon telling my mom about the hotel plan, she was vehemently opposed to it, but I continued the conversation and she finally subsided to a sigh, saying she would talk to my dad and then have to talk to my friend and her parents, etc.

I'm not dumb. I'm not. If I didn't trust this person, I would've known it by now. But I do trust them. Unfortunately, I am still my parent's baby, and their pride 'n joy [*sigh* how often I've heard that -_-;]. I know they want to protect me and such. But please! I'm going to be seventeen. Next year I'll be heading off to college and not have them around.

It's nice to know my parents love me and want to protect me, but as ACen is really the only fun thing I get to do [I don't see us going on vacation this year], I really want to go either the full way or at least 2/3 of it.

I also need to re-bake my magatama. o3o

The second day

I went back to my restaurant gig last night. More times were had, and more learning occured. Also, sneaking food. o3o

I knew it was a good sign when I came in through the back kitchen door and David [head chef man] was like "HEEEEEEEY YOU'RE BACK! We didn't scare you off, eh?" Apparently, before I came, they trained another bus girl for one night, but she...never came back. Ever. So yeah.

Thrown in right away to the mix, I got my little waist apron thingie, meaning I'm officially official. Then I proceeded to microwave bread loaves.

Frequently throughout the night, I was tasked to go to the basement and do something. Got bread twice, did the green napkin laundry twice, and retrieved two different things of cheese from the walk-in fridge twice. Fun times.

I also learned how to make croƻtons. They take the day-old bread loaves, slice them up, and then deep fry them. However, I ended up cutting my thumb with the bread knife. >>; Twenty minutes and two Band-Aids later, I realized that it was best to have a [now closed] flesh wound than constantly peeling greasy wrappings from my thumb. P:

At one point during the night, I placed a thing of bread at the [combined] tables 10 and 11. "Here you are," I say, and then this guy turns and looks at me and goes, "HEEEEY, how are you?" It was kinda weird, but I just grinned and replied, "I'm fine sir, and how are you?" "OH, I'm just great!" Awkward pause. "Well sir, enjoy your meal tonight at the Burlington House. *arm motion*" "Why thank you, I will!"

It's always nice to have a nice guy. XD;

At another point, when I was confined to the miscellaneous room to wrap silverware, zap bread, and compose butter trays, Jordan came in and was like "the crazy lady's back!" Soooo apparently there's a crazy lady that dines there. The waitresses began battling it out to see who would have to take her. The whole thing was rather amusing. ...Though I never saw the crazy lady despite her being seated RIGHT by the kitchen door. o3o; I was usually told to go check salad bar or wipe a table or go to the basement.

Now that I'm officially official, I also had to take a peep at the calendar to check for time off. Luckily, I learned that the boss-lady let's us take off, no problem, for school events that we're involved in [so I can take off for football games because the band plays, etc.]. The only thing I'm taking off for due for my own personal enjoyment is ACen.

Let's see...soooo I have May 3rd [talent show, sponsored by art club], 14th [band concert], 16-18 [ACen], 20th [underclassman awards], and 30th [graduation, band plays] off. LUCKILY the place isn't open on Mondays. x_x;

GAH I feel bad. ;_; But May is May, so...
