Hello there, this is Katana, also known as Kat in some circles. I'm your friendly neighborhood twenty-two-year-old illustrator/writer whose sarcasm is second to none and harboring the ability to verbalize the parentheses in stories. I drink coffee and draw like an addict and am liable to get you into things that I like. Currently the wielder of a BFA in Illustration and a minor in English.

Questions? Comments? Death threats? Feel free to PM or message me in some iteration. I'm always around, you just don't know it.

Ponies for Who: The theme song

This is basically a Facebook transplant post.

Blank and I, earlier today, started to make a theme song for this whole "Ponies for Who" ordeal due to my status. "Ponies for Who: It's reach goes far and wide". It sorta devolved into this:

The brony travels across the land, searching far and wide. Each Pony to understand, the power that's inside?

PONIESFORWHO! Gotta watch em alllll! (It's Twi and Who~) You know it's just destiny!

PONIESFORWHO, SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS, AND THERE WILL BE NO END.

Then Ace jumped in.

PONIESFORWHO, OH TARDIS FLY TRUE. FRIENDSHIP AND MAGIC WILL PULL US THROUGH

SONIC SCREWDRIVERS AND RAINBOOMS TOO, PONIESFORWHOOOOOOO

And now I vote we gut it and start from the beginning. Like, you know, properly following the Pokemon theme?

A Quick-Start Guide to Doctor Who

With summer bearing down, a lot of us have more free time. Even if you’re not on break, you’re probably part of the crowd that’s noticing the endless chatter about Doctor friggin’ Who, and at some point, you probably got cu...

Another monitor to call my own

I've been batting around the idea of a second monitor for a while now. It's a matter of desiring more workspace for art things, having the ability to devote one screen to Photoshop/Sai and the other screen for my usual tasking.

I went out today to Staples and Best Buy to scope things out and was happy to find monitors well within an acceptable price range. Thing was, I was completely ignored by staff at both places and got irritated and left.

What I figured is that I can accommodate a 20" screen (with the restraints of both my home and future townhouse desk spaces), and that seems like a nice enough size for someone like me. But what I can't figure out is why some 20-inchers display in 1366x768 (which my 15" laptop does) and others in 1440x900, with one, I swear, having a 1600-by-something (I don't think 1200) reso.

Anyway.

My biggest concern is finding a monitor that'll match exactly the display I have on my laptop. By that I mean I want colors and such to be equal, because one machine have two different color outputs would be a nightmare. I need some consistency, you know.

And that's where I turn to you, my tech-savvy friends, because this is where I implore you for knowledge on the subject. What kinda of specs should I look for, how do I know if the colors will match, and are there are brands or things I should stay away from?

Losing isn't so bad when you remember how much fun you had

(This is a Who-post.)

If my cheesy title didn't give it away, then I'll reiterate the fact that the cardboard TARDIS constructed by myself and my friend MagicalZombie didn't win the Where's the TARDIS competition. (The winners were a family, though, so I can appreciate that.) While I am bitter and honestly think ours was better than half the runner-ups, I just hold up my hands in defense.

Wish I could find our image in the mosaic, though...

It was a ton of fun, though. It was a lot of hard work and worrying and getting annoyed, but it was an experience to do. If anything, it proved to me that if you just say "Hey, let's get this going", you can get stuff done.

More than that, it was quite a joy to put the thing up and get all the attention that we got. I got to meet and chat with people I would otherwise not have had the pleasure of doing so before this, so overall, the experience was amazing. You know, that whole "it's the journey, not the destination" dealio.

In other Who-related news, I'd like to make note of my recent conversions to the side. Being back in Chat for summer got Felix (the Cat) and jomz interested, and I pointed them to the direction of Series 5. The former wrapped up "A Good Man Goes To War" today while the latter started at the (sort of) start.

So what, that's like eight people for me now? I'm good at what I do...must be the .gif spamming.
