Hello there, this is Katana, also known as Kat in some circles. I'm your friendly neighborhood twenty-two-year-old illustrator/writer whose sarcasm is second to none and harboring the ability to verbalize the parentheses in stories. I drink coffee and draw like an addict and am liable to get you into things that I like. Currently the wielder of a BFA in Illustration and a minor in English.

Questions? Comments? Death threats? Feel free to PM or message me in some iteration. I'm always around, you just don't know it.

"Some of the great artists of our time started off by doodling in class. ...Maybe. Oh heck I dunno."
- Miss Anonymous

2011 isn't symmetrical, but whatever

Don't ask about that. I just - something in my brain...

Anyway, to go along with the tradition of years past, here are the random stats of my World for the past year:

Total posts: 155
Average/month: 13
Average/week: 3

Down again from 162 last year. Not surprising, actually. Still, the numbers I'm getting here on VV far surpass what I wrote on myOtaku. Then again...

What happened last night. Uh. I worked. Wooh! My feet were ready to die by the 8:30 seating, more like around 9 when everyone was settled in. Ah well. My brownies were a hit and were the first things to go. Glory shot!

I stayed at the restaurant until midnight, but didn't get to scream the good ol 'HAPPY NEW YEAR' until I gave TC a call. He texted me at 11, you see. He deserved it.

Came back home and...somehow...it involved Chat and Tangled and then talking about hanging out and...uh, we ended up on Skype. If I remember correctly, it was Sunfall, SomeGuy, Miss Anonymous, Mistress Duck NOT DUCKY, Kei, Moletta, Sangome, Shinmaru, Michi even though she didn't say anything, and myself. We rang in the PST new year that involved me swearing, and then we just sorta...chacked out. I have no problems in saying I was on until roughly 5am.

Tacochan was born, and I got to draw him. And color. 2011 is looking bright for me already.

Also a reminder, Livestreaming tonight at 7pm CST. Better get on to drawing that picture...

Ahh, the New Years Eve post

Before I get into that, I'm going to ruin the memorable part of this to announce I'll be doing another Livestream session tomorrow night (January 1st) at 7pm CST again. Come on by if you can. :D

Alright, the post for this day! I'm working tonight, as per what has become the norm. I made Nutella brownies for the occasion, and why yes, they are yummy. Brownie-crunch with caramel-chew. Strange but delightful. No, you're not getting any.

I do always enjoy looking back on the posts from years previous and seeing stuff I wrote, particularly the "see you next year" part. No where did this strike me more than in my 2009 summary of art, because at the very end, I said "Here's to 2010!" When you're actually there looking back at it for reference, it's just...weird. In a good way.

I really don't have much else to say, so time for bullet points!

- Changed my major, just slightly, and added a minor.
- Finished my first year of college.
- Not only that, but successfully completed another two semesters.
- Found the really good people.
- Got into my first art show. Actually, two art shows! I'd say three but the third was open-submission.
- Learned I could survive and manage having six classes (and two jobs).
- Got really, really into Doctor Who and had good times.
- Celebrated two years of Movie Sign. Still going strong.
- Recorded for my first podcast, Anime-Pulse. Exciting!
- Made friends with the freshmen in the dorm and became both a role model and a total immature idiot.
- Learned my lists are usually too serious so I have to ruin them somehow.

That's it for me. Bye-bye, 2010, the odd and not-quite symmetrical year that you were. Here's to 2011!

Liiiivestreamin', all the way home, liiiivestreamin', all by my lone~

Put that to some melody and you have me needing some help.

Anyway! I was in Chicago yesterday with one of the freshmen buddies, and although the majority of the trip was us nerding and spazzing about anime and art supplies (along with discussions on ACen and cosplay), she did convince me to give a crack at something she already does: Livestream.

It's just a streaming service to show whatever you want, and she uses it to show how she colors thing digitally. I'll be doing the same thing. Sounds excitin', huh?

Probably gonna start around 7pm CST. Convert for your own timezone. Link is at this text. Don't think you need an account to comment/chat. Anyone who remembers what the channel references wins. Hint: You woulda had to know (of) me about four years ago.

The point is to give, not to receive

Which is trufax, but it's also a bit of an inversion because getting presents is pretty awesome. But as a basement cat apparently said, and what a little kid passed on to me, is maybe we should do posts about what we gave to others.

Which is funny because I can see ya'll squirming right now. *smacked*

This year, I had to buy...everything. Which is something I'm not totally used to doing. The big ones I typically get a pass on, but not this year. This year, my brother and I split the cost of three gifts, but they still put a dent in the wallet. This past semester was strenuous on the budget, though I usually managed to make a profit of about 20 bucks a month. XP This should give you an idea of how much I spent...but also of how much I worked for it.

Annnyway:

- A crockpot for my sister-in-law. Split with my brother.
- A dolly for my dad, also split. This was a major one. Now I want to have races with it.
- Flat iron for my mom, again split. Mom has shorter (and thinner) hair than me, so why she needs one is beyond me.
- Between me and my brother, we exchange the gift of relative peace for a few hours. And lunch.
- For the other brother with the aforementioned wife who got the crockpot, this shirt. It took him a while, but he thought it was funny. :V
- Promised sushi lunch with the idkbff Lorenza. We still have yet to do that. It's kinda how we roll. ......*rimshots*
- "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" season 4 set and a copy of Jane Eyre for TimeChaser. Also a very elaborately decorated box to ship it in because I had to.
- For Miss Anonymous, this shirt and no, there is absolutely no context to it other than "this is the kind of thing I know Missy would get".
- And for Mistress Duck, this shirt. If you need it explained to you, then...no.
- Finally sent Nehszriah this. Figured she should get it before it got something spilled on it. P:
- Power Rangers chopsticks for another friend of mine. I'm not going to explain that one either.
- Slippers for Terumi, Jiaqi, and Deborah, aka, my future roommates.
- And for everyone else, the gift of me putting up with you a thumbs up. *smacked again*

The Christmas haul, once again

The Good: A Zune HD, hereby named Gohan.

The Bad: The random crap my mom keeps on buying every year that will ultimately end up taking up room before being thrown away.

The WTF: Opening up the wrapping paper to The Brilliant Book of Doctor Who, a book I've wanted a lot since skimming through it in Chicago on the SoFA trip. I couldn't believe my mom actually got it for me when I didn't even tell her. I guess she knows I like Doctor Who.

The Bonus: 20 bottles of Frappuccino (and a Hobby Lobby giftcard) from my brother and sister-in-law. Art and coffee a happy Kat makes.

Also, the Doctor Who Christmas special was so beyond baller, it breaks the bounds of even baller squared. And my parents liked it too!

Frohe Weihnachten, everyone!
