Oh, my wit, it hurts.
When my mom asked if I wanted to go, I had the biggest freak out.
(Heading back to NIU; I should be back before 7pm.)
Fifteen weeks left in the semester.
So, well, uhhhhh...um, not much to report on. Well I mean, there is...Ugh. Uhhh...let's think.
Last post I had yet to go to Art 102. Well, now I have. And Art 100 < Art 102. It's a design-basics class, which I again start to squirm in because I know the stuff. Ah well! I really like it; the prof, Blaine, is a really cool guy. We drew up portfolios, though that really meant doodling all over sheets of paper. I'll try and take a picture of it next time I go to class.
Blaine let us out early, so I went to the Village Commons Bookstore to get my bigass art kit for Art 100. Well, I forgot my pin on my debit card. So I had to pay in cash. I luckily happened to have $96 on me, thanks to tip money. And then I was broke.
Well, fine, I had five dollars left.
So uhhh...yeah. Nothing terribly exciting, made a few more friends - Lindsey in Art 100 and 102, Jacki in Art 102...Which, Art 102...it really is a good time. The class is small, about fifteen or so, and yesterday we were just rolling and working off each other. It's so much fun.
I still doodled, though:
(L to R: Blaine, Lindsey, Kat) Because a 6-8:40 class is rough when you've been up since 8am. It still pales in comparison to this.
This morning, I went down to the art building around noon for a meeting on becoming a peer adviser. As it turns out, only me and two other people were selected for this - well, we three were the first-choice. There's Troy, who was Sculpture Man from the art meet-and-greet (not Dave), Don, who's in the marching band, and, well, me. I was described as the token female since Troy is a transfer and Don is also doing music while I...I'm not.
Basically, we were picked first because we "stood out" at orientation. We just sat there before I said "I don't remember doing anything out of the ordinary at orientation except being a spaz..."
So yeah! I've got a second job! :D
Anyways, not much else going on. Going home tomorrow for work, staying the night there, then coming back Sunday morning. Pwaaaah.
Classes, that is. Stats 208, Art 100, Music 220, and English 105 are all covered. Just need to attend Art 102, which is a late course for me (6-8:40). By the way things have been going, I'll be done with that by like, 7 or something. >>;
So my roommate finally appeared yesterday. I was dozing when she came in, to which she said "Oh, she's sleeping!" My response was a graceful "FDSFGS I'M AWAKE". We proceeded to try and separate the beds, which failed spectacularly. But they were separated in the end and we're all good.
I walked into Stats feeling antsy, as it is a 200-level course. Then the professor goes "How many hate math, raise your hand?" To which...I raised my hand. "Good, this is the class for you."
Shwing.
Came back, hung around, went to Art 100. And boy oh boy is it freshman year Intro to 2D Art all over again. Creating a mark, working from life, etc...ohhhh man. XD
Fast forward a few hours, and I was coming back to my room from a shower and was attacked by Ross. Ross, bless him, loves video games and had marathoned FFX and was describing the boss fight while I just nodded. He then comes into my room while I cook cup noodles and he goes on and on about books and his book series he's trying to write and then back to FFX and then holy crap he just goes. Natalie (my roommate) comes back and she just listens as Ross keeps going. And going. And going.
When he finally left, Natalie borrowed my phone to make some calls. But upon opening my cell, she saw the wallpaper I have, which is the photo of me and Joel from the Cinematic Titanic show. "Is this your dad?"
"No, it's -"
"You look just like him!"
"Uh, no, he -"
So apparently Hodgson is my dad now.
Alrighty...wake up this morning, went down for breakfast. Ate by myself for a few minutes before Ross pops up and we talk about...uh...I forgot. Then his friend Chris sits down and the three of us chat for a bit. We forgot we hadn't introduced each other.
"I'm Chris."
"I'm Ginger."
"Oh, toast girl!"
You see...
On Sunday night, there was a floor meeting (which is why I missed like, half of Movie Sign), and before going over all the rules and stuff, we went around the lounge saying our names, grades, majors, and a "fun fact". Well, about twenty people go by, no fun fact, until me. I say "And my fun fact is that I like to wear toast in my pants."
There's a brief silence before some people start cracking up and then the joke settled in and the room laughs. My CA, Bryan, stares at me while I go "I'm lying geez!"
Then later, as I was taking a bathroom break, I came out of my room just in time hear my name being said at the end of the hallway, where the lounge is.
"I heard my name?"
"Yeah, we were talking about your...fun fact..."
"Oh, that I wear toast in my pants?"
"Yeah, we were wondering what kind."
"Whole wheat's fine."
So I've doomed myself already.
Back to breakfast. We're sitting and chatting before Ross and Chris start talking about some professor for some class (geology maybe). Chris then says, "You know, whenever I get bored in that class, I just imagine him as Tom Servo from MST and the class gets a lot more interesting."
Ahhhhh...
"Little guy in a gumball machine teaching? That's great."
We then talked about RiffTrax while Ross is going "Uhhhhh?" The two of us attacked him going "MUST WATCH YOUUUU".
Went to Music, which didn't last very long. Came back, hung around, suddenly Ryu comes walking in my door with doughnuts. We sat and chatted before heading down the hall and hanging with Ross while we talked more video games. Noon rolls around, Ryu leaves, I grab some lunch from the Trident aaaand...well, yeah. Went to English, now I'm here just waiting to go down to Art 102.
...
*nom*
I'm not sure that, when I joined six years ago, if I thought I would still be around to talk about the day I moved into my dorm for college.
Well, guess what's happening now.
Catch ya the next time I have internets. And if nothing else...RiffTrax Live tonight.
