Well...two days until dorm move-in. Thursday night I'm going to the movies (hopefully with Ryu) to see the RiffTrax Live event of Plan 9 from Outer Space.
In the meantime, I have another gadget - an external harddrive. I really needed to get one, especially now. In particular, I dread if I was to lose my pictures, mainly because I've got portfolio material in there. Hurrrrgh.
So with some time to kill until the evening, I decided to think of the list of my inanimate objects of which I have named after characters - namely bishounen o' mine. >_>
Object: Zune (8GB)
Name: Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho)
Why: It's red. Microsoft asked me to name it for the software, so I did. And thus begins the downward spiral...
Object: Gateway M-151X (laptop)
Name: Piers (Golden Sun: The Lost Age)
Why: It's blue (pacific blue).
Object: 2000 Toyota Camry
Name: Mitsukuni (Ouran High School Host Club)
Why: It's gold. Yes, a lot of these are based on color. But it's also a slicker name than Hunny or Momiji.
Object: Genius G-Pen F610 (tablet)
Name: Godot (Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations)
Why: That's...a good question. It's grey and black and very thin and...that's about it. It just seemed to fit.
Object: Motorola Adventure (cell phone)
Name: Alphonse (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Why: It's silver and red, so it vaguely fits. This is again because it seemed to fit.
Object: Scanner (hey, I bought it at a rummage sale)
Name: Lockon (Gundam 00)
Why: A late name, but man, a scanner? And Lockon? It works very well.
Object: Nintendo DS
Name: Picard (Golden Sun: The Lost Age)
Why: It's blue, but also looks like a smaller version of my laptop. Picard is the name used in the Japanese version for Piers.
Object: Mr. Coffee 4-cup coffee pot (woooh!)
Name: Armando (Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations)
Why: Even though Godot would make a lot more sense, I figured Diego Armando was a good enough back-up. And Armando sounds cool.
Object: Buffalo MiniStation (external harddrive)
Name: Haro (Gundam)
Why: It's small, and the very first thing I thought when I looked at it was "Haro".
Ughhhhh still have two hours to go...
This has been an...interesting year for me. And sometimes, the only way I was able to make it through the week was because I had Movie Sign on Sundays. After that was over, it was back to the grind of school, of work, of life. Each week would repe...

Target was selling DS's for $99. With a deal like that, I decided, why the hell not? and picked up a brand spankin' new DS.
It's blue (and black).
I named it Picard.
BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE MY LAPTOP BUT MINI!
Along with the DS I bought Drawn to Life and Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations. Drawn to Life is like, a mindless, rather mundane game, but with - OH MY GOD I GET TO COLOR MY OWN HANG GLIDER?! And you realize you've never really grown up. Nevertheless, it has its charm, though I'm not telling you guys to buy it.
Phoenix Wright is getting me back where I love to be, which is mindlessly tapping the screen while my room is pitch dark and the only source of illumination is the friggin' bright light from the DS. Also utilizing the "save my game before presenting evidence and if the music doesn't change I restart" system.
I'm going to be making a special post at the Satellite of Love world later today, so if you're interested, keep an eye out on that. Post is up, check it out if you wish. Nehs and I had a good time working on it. Anyway, this Sunday is our one year anniversary spectacularmathon, and holy shiz I can't believe it. Our test run was August 10th, our official first one was August 17th...wow.
Good God we've watched a lot of crap.
Bah, I've got one week until move-in, so I'll be packing this weekend. Also, today is the nineteenth birthday of my bestest buddy, Lorenza...man, time flies.
Textbooks are really fraggin' expensive. This I knew.
I'm just very thankful that I'm taking two art classes, which is two-fifths of my load, and they don't have any books. Though as my mom said, "You'll make up for it by buying art supplies". True, but I don't think they'll equate to a textbook.
I was able to find most of my books on Barnes & Noble's website, which saved me mucho bucks. Unfortunately, my Stats textbook wasn't there, which was the real killer. Well, I mean, it probably was, but there were several different editions flying around...and they actually weren't cheap than the NIU website, so I just got them from the university bookstore. Buuuh.
Still less than the pharmacy kids have to pay. ;D
Post title has nothing to do with said post.
So I'm now about a week and a half out from moving into my dorm. Panic ensues, but otherwise I'm able to keep my cool. It's all very surreal to me, but it's going to be worse next week when I'm packing up my stuff...
Last night/this morning, a bunch of us hung around in the Movie Sign room...again...for a very very long time. I made it to eleven hours before realizing I had things to do today and logging out (at around 5:42am). Unfortunately, I didn't wake up until 1:40pm. Ugh.
So that's now two weeks in a row, and I'm wondering if I'm going to keep this up. My Monday classes don't start until 1pm...
Let's see...Cinematic Titanic tickets came, as well as...drumroll...my debit card! Oh man! I'm still a cash mongrel, though, due to tip money, and I much prefer it over the plastic card of doom. Speaking of which, I worked this past Friday and Saturday and came home both nights tired. Friday we were slammed with people for two hours straight, resulting in everyone becoming very slap happy. Saturday wasn't as bad, but we had several large parties, which hurt after a while. But we finally broke our Saturday slump, which is good for my wallet. :P
