Hello there, this is Katana, also known as Kat in some circles. I'm your friendly neighborhood twenty-two-year-old illustrator/writer whose sarcasm is second to none and harboring the ability to verbalize the parentheses in stories. I drink coffee and draw like an addict and am liable to get you into things that I like. Currently the wielder of a BFA in Illustration and a minor in English.
Questions? Comments? Death threats? Feel free to PM or message me in some iteration. I'm always around, you just don't know it.

To the delight of some and the dismay of others, I make MST3K icons. Lots of 'em. In fact, the count is 149, and that kills my soul a little. However, it is something I really enjoy doing, so I'm fine with that.
But on the other end, I gank tons of icons as well. Total amount in the folder is 444 (which I know is not a lot), which made a thought pop into my head: "Icon of the day!", in which I would change my icon here on theO every day until, well, I was done. It'd be never-ending, essentially, since, well...it just wouldn't be.
Besides, 'gome already does that anyway. *brick'd*
Bleeeh...work last night was okay. The other bus girl was at track practice and didn't get there until a half-hour after opening (an hour after I got there), so I had to do all the prep and water and bread...Because we got like, ten tables all at once, I was scurrying around to get it all. Also, it was hot, so the ice in the water pitcher melted fast, resulting in my just scooping ice into the pitchers and not even putting water in.
When she arrived, it became an odd see-saw of being busy and then us having nothing to do. But as soon as the work was done, we'd have a second to breathe before something else happened. What was difficult was that we had waves of people, so four tables would leave at once whilst another table was coming in, etc. Meh, it happens.
Videos...uhm. Well. Movie Sign is really apt to getting screwed, I've found out. First was YouTube, and for those wondering why we switched to Google Video, here's why: Viacom, who at one point owned Comedy Central, did a sweep of all the MST videos on YouTube, claiming copyright. The confusion comes from the fact that a.) they don't own it now, but I assume that means nothing, and b.) they also took down videos from the Syfy Sci-Fi Channel era, which makes no sense. Regardless, that's what happened, and me and TC decided to move to Google Video, uploading the movies ourselves.
For the past couple days, I've been trying to upload Squirm, to no avail - getting the same message that says either my login/password is incorrect or that "network connections are down". After a bit of snooping around the help area, I learned that Google Video is no longer allowing uploads. They're keeping everything they have up, but yeah. They point you to YouTube.
Which makes sense, since Google facking owns YouTube...
...but YouTube has that 10 minute limit and their uploading process is horrendous.
Luckily, I found a copy of Squirm already up on Google, so we're good. But now what? The hell we going to do now? Luckily, I have a few solutions up my sleeve. I would rather not resort to having people download the things, just keep it simple with streaming.
...*makes a face*...Hm.
Okay, on to a new subject.
ACen is now thirteen days away. Holy Christ. I think the reason it hasn't really clicked with me is because...well, it's not May. But I don't realize how early in May it actually is, since last year it was towards the end and after everything going on at school.
Thursday, since I had the day off due to ACT testing, me and my mom went out to look at a church rummage sale (a total bust) and then do some poking around...I brought up how I was saving money for the con, so she started asking about it. When it came to how I'm getting there and I answered with "I'm driving"...well, she didn't mind. She felt better when I said I was going to have Ryu with me. But when I came home from work last night, my dad asked if I'd like to do a practice drive Sunday morning.
...Wow. My parents are taking this a lot better than I thought they would. Are they finally realizing that I'm going to be leaving them soon and they won't be able to control what I do 24/7? Whatever the case, I'm very appreciative.
Analise is coming up with the cloaks this coming weekend, so we'll have those. Waffles and I need to have a wig party or something, since I still have to cut mine and style it a bit.
Finally, here's my Keyblade. No dramatic difference, just a bit less crude. I stuck duct tape on the joints because the obviousness of the glue was really annoying me. Going to do another coat of paint before putting on the sealer, giving it a polish, and then not touching it until the con. XD
Neptune East, room 416. Take a guess at what I've codenamed it.
But, well, yeah. I got the dorm I wanted and the quiet lifestyle option I preferred. I also have a roommate whose last name is Coffee.
I was thumbing through the rooms and jotting down the ones that didn't have a boy in them, and I was just getting good vibes from the 416 link, so I decided to stop looking and just book it. Which I did.
In addition to the Puppetbenders, there are a three more guests coming to ACen that I want to meet. I say this every year - that is, I get excited about people coming - but the only person I ever actually met was Fred Gallagher. He drew Boo for me in my copy of the first MegaTokyo book. Yayz.
Ian McConville and Matt Boyd are coming. They're best known for the webcomic MacHall, but their current thing, Three Panel Soul, is the one I've read. The artwork is spectacular and is definitely unique. Ian draws stuff and has a couple of artbooks, and I really want one except...well yeah. I need to save my money - and hell, he'll probably have it at the con. But yeah, I need something for them to sign...
The third person is Tiffany Grant, and that's just 'cause she did Azumanga and that epic Chat event. I can shoot to see if she remembers me. XD
I have three countdowns going on my laptop:
Aghaghaaaaa.
I'm currently re-dying my labcoat so that I can wear it the Friday of ACen for the hell of it. Ryu and I get out of school at 2:30...I predict us on the highway by 3...get to the hotel around 4, which is our check-in time. Hang out with Schultzie and Kastom, eat dinner, have a good time wandering around...ah, fun.
The only thing between now and the con is an art show on May 1st and NHS induction on May 4th. Last year, everything - band concert, theater night, field trip - fell the week of ACen, which totally killed me in the waiting process. XD
Work tonight. I worked last night too (got called in) and will be working tomorrow night. If patterns repeat, I'll get off at 7, make it home around 7:20, and slip into Movie Sign before they've even started because it seems they can't start without me. :P (I kid, I love you guys.) The irony is that I've been pestering TC to do a season one episode forevar (he has a phobia of them), but I'm going to be late. XD;
This coming week is ACT testing for the juniors, so I have Wednesday and Thursday off, with Friday being a half day and Saturday prom (not going). Next Wednesday is also 'gome's birthday, as well as Earth Day. I'm probably going to go to school to work on my AP portfolio, and I want to get a group together to do something on Thursday (our senior buddies went to the zoo last year).
OH! Successfully mailed my portfolio for the NIU scholarship yesterday. Tracking number says it got there, but since the School of Art isn't open on weekends, it'll be picked up Monday...huuuuuuu. Wish me luck.
