Today and tomorrow, final days of winter break. Haven't done...uhm, anything. >_>; Don't wanna start second semester, that means I have to take college algebra. DX
But it all must be, so whatever. The trippy thing is that...it's my last semester of high school WTF. o_O That's just so weird...
Oh, I have an art project to due before Tuesday. Lulz.
My tip money from work has really racked up due to New Years Eve and stuff. I'm thinking of buying Animal Crossing: City Folk, but I'm only going to get it bundled with the mic and only when I know others have it too. So far I know only one other person, which hasn't totally swayed me yet. That and...Well, we own the other two AC games, and I can't imagine this one being any different. From the reviews I read, it's...not. But I know that I've loved every game, so...Urgh.
I was also thinking about buying another gig of RAM for my laptop. It's expandable up to 4, but Vista 32-bit will only recognize 3, etc. Best Buy has them on sale for $16 this week, but I always go to Staples since they seem to be way cheaper 90% of the time. Aaaand I want to buy presents for baby Aiden...eeee. >w<
So...bored...
*shakes head* Okay!
ACen! Yes, glorious ACen! The start of the year always means it's time to start planning for that wondrous con o' mine. Waffles and I are going as Larxene and Xion [Kingdom Hearts] for at least one day. As I currently have no idea if we have hotel plans or not, I can't say if I'll be packing more cosplay.
For Xion, I have to get a black wig, because I can't dye my hair. Rather...I don't want to dye my hair, and I'm not really sure what my bosses would think. Little ridiculous, as my hair is PERFECT for her. >< Unless anybody knows of a good temp dye that washes out [not that spray-on stuff], it's a wig for me. *shrug* Whatever.
And we have to make the weapons, don't we...I have to make a keyblade. XD Alright, basement crafting!
On a final note...Oh man, Movie Sign tonight. Like...seriously. My favorite episode, hands down. It's what got me into the show, and I've watched it a lot. The beginning is pretty average, but once we meet our alcoholic hero Rowsdower, it becomes gold. If you've ever wanted to know what the hell the show is, or why we keep doing what we do, this is the reason why.
As everyone else has been saying, but with a slight Kat flair: HAPPY FREAKIN' 2009!
Continuing the tradition I've done for a few years now...the random stats of myOtaku/World:
Total posts: 197
Average/month: 16.4
Average/week: 3.8
Up from...91 posts last year. XDDD WOW.
Last night...last night was something else. Work was actually kid of cracktastic. We had three shifts; 4:30, 6:30, and 8:30. First went on without a hitch, the second had a bit of a hiccup since the boss decided to sit people early and we weren't stocked for it, and the third went well except we were just so bloody tired.
The waitresses all brought in a bunch of food, so we had chips dip and crackers and grapes and cheese and cookies and chocolate-covered confections...Oh, and it was all put in the back room where the bus kids are. XD; We had lots of downtime due to how everything was shifted out, so we ended up eating a lot of it.
Totally random factoid: "bus" is short for "omnibus". Meaning "man or boy who assists a waiter at a restaurant". NOW YOU KNOW!
Anyways, we were told that all drinks and meals were on the house, except that the former really means nothing since we get free sodas anyways. It meant something for the waitresses, though. After the last table left and we screamed in celebration, we all sat at the bar and had drinks. Well, obviously, not me. No, I had two kiddie cocktails. XDD Finally got to leave at 10:30, got home before 11, cleaned up a little, and hopped over to Waffles's house.
Soda, video games, television - that's what all of our parties are. XD Counted down to midnight and celebrated and just generally did what we always did...Played Guitar Hero and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, tried to invent drinking game with Ginger Ale and Pepsi [didn't really work]. I came home around 3 and ended up Skypeing with one of my friends until 5. XDD
OH OH. OH OH OHO OHHHH!
My band director is now a daddy! 8DD It's a boy, named Aiden, and he was born last night at 10:33. As my mom said "Oh good, they got their tax write-off in time!" X3; I squeed in delight, and now I'm totally going out and buying adorable baby things for them. Oh yeah, and diapers.
Welcome to the world, Aiden. You've got quite a life ahead of ya.
Once again, Happy New Years guys.
Bargleflargeoapdsfalskdfmadpsfzaaaaah.
Bwaaa.
Ah.
Gotta work in an hour and then it's off to party with the Waffled One...but woah. End of the year. End of 2008. Another 366 days draw to a close.
So much has happened, both good and bad, awesome and redundent, online and off. Done weird things and will sure as heck continue to do that. Lessee...
- Obtained a job
- Got a 29 on the ACT and got accepted to NIU
- Went to ACen for three days
- Met 'gome at said ACen
- Tacked on four guys to the real-life fangirlisms XD [so the list went from one to five, hurr]
- Rediscovered MST3K, started up the Movie Sign chat, and done nerdy things
- Busted up my chin and got a gnarly scar
- Found my groove in commercial art
- Went to Cinematic Titanic, got things signed, and got Joel-hugged
Thanks for it all, guys.
Now, time to party! [Well, in ten hours, anyways.]
Wow, 2008 is about to draw to a close...that's just weird!
Lessee...yesterday Mom and I went out for random shopping adventures and such. I snagged another MST3K boxset [volume 2, with Cave Dwellers, Pod People, Angels Revenge, and Shorts vol. 1] and than had the lovely experience of hearing some teenage girl actually say "OH. EM. GEE." I had to duck into a random aisle to at least avoid her seeing me cracking up so badly.
When we were standing in line, we made the discovery that Barnes & Noble sells like, packs of giftcards, so in case you ever need a gift, you always have one. I looked at them and said, "If you're like me, and I know I am, there are times you come home from work or school and realize...you have a party to go to and have no gift."
Then we got cocoa at their little cafe in the store. My mom seemed really taken in by the food display, but in a not-so-impressive mannner.
"Look! Pretzels!"
"Aim high sister! Pretzels?! There's cheesecake!"
Then the grocery store...yeah...Err, yeah. That was it. XD
Tomorrow I work, so I'll probably leave here around...3:30...get home around 10ish...then go to Waffles's house and party up the New Year. [Oh yes, our exciting parties...XD]
MST3K Season One Progress: Moon Zerto Two, Untamed Youth, Robot Holocaust, Robot Monster, The Crawling Eye, The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy, Mad Monster, The Crawling Hand
Still Have To Watch: Women of the Prehistoric Planet, The Corpse Vanishes, The Slime People, Project Moonbase, The Black Scorpion
Bookstores suck in the fact that they only have what they have. The internet sucks because you can't get what you want until a few days or weeks after you order it.
I went out on an adventure today. Went to the grocery store and uh...did weird things, along with buying heavily discounted chocolate. 8D~ Oh, and rice. EXTREME RIIIIICE! Then I hopped over to the bank and decided to go on a bit of a memory trip, going through my old neighborhood and seeing my old house and checking out the playground I used to wreak havoc at.
Then I went to the commons to try and go to Barnes and Noble. Epic, epic parking lot fail. Absolutely *nowhere* to park due to snow piles and people. I thought about parking in a handicap spot, but was pretty pissed off by that point and just decided to go home and watch my Good Eats DVDs. So it was delicious and nerdy all at once.
So back to my opening paragraph. I decided to snoop around the Borders website and was able to get my hands on Mind Over Matters by Michael J. Nelson (yes, THAT Michael J. Nelson). I've been wanting to read it for a while, and I have a giftcard, and the world is good. Maybe I can use it for my nonfiction book for AP English...
And this comic seems to be doin' well. XD
