What did I post about last.
*checks*
Oh right, Friday. Today is...Wednesday. Okay. Cool.
So on Friday night, me and my fellow art/anime dorks Terumi and Jiaqi went out to get food, which is a common practice of ours. We ended up at a place we go to a lot, Annie G's, ordering food and pie and messing around. When we went back to the dorms, we stopped by another friend's room, Autumn, where her and her roommate Deborah were watching Dirty Dancing. Deborah is a tech theatre major so the two of us were bouncing off of each other really well.
I saw the ending of Dirty Dancing, I can say that much, before Autumn busted out the Doctor Who. Yesssss. Jiaqi had already gone back to her room to sleep (it was late and she sleeps pretty early) while Terumi, having pulled an all-night previously, slept by my feet as the two of us camped on Deborah's bed while she was at her desk.
First episode we watched, per my request, was The Shakespeare Code, followed by Gridlock, then Human Nature and The Family of Blood. Cue tears from me at the last episode, though, when watching Gridlock, I had a rather late revelation:
*about ten minutes after the fact*
Kat: ...Wait a minute, those were kittens!
At the end of our marathoning, it was about midnight, and I was sad and my head was just so full of thoughts that we called it a night.
The next day, I was dragged out of bed to go to breakfast with Terumi, Jiaqi, Autumn, and Deborah, which is something rare for me since I never get to eat breakfast during the week (I usually wake up too late or I have class and, again, wake up too late). But since weekend "brunch" doesn't start until 11, I was in the clear.
Jiaqi, Terumi, and I went to a gallery in "the castle building" of campus, aka Altgeld, since we need to do reports for art class. The showcase was pretty fun, and then we goofed off around this camera...box...sculpture...thing.
Then there was a magical journey to Wal-Mart. And trust me when I say that it is really effing creepy to see goldfish eating a dead goldfish. I'm still a bit scarred.
Come the evening, our crew (me, Terumi, Jiaqi, and Autumn) went up the hill to Douglas to see a performance by the Japanese and Spanish groups. I really have no idea what exactly it was, but it was something to do. When we came into the lobby and found where the event was to take place, we noticed that we were very out-of-place due to not being a parent or a small child, not having a sticker name tag, and wearing jeans and sweatshirts. We collected another one of Terumi's friends, Ivette, and headed out to dinner in Mitsukuni.
We were going to go to Steak 'n Shake, but since that was packed, we took a gamble on some random restaurant in a strip mall called East Buffet. It was a Chinese buffet, and it was quiiiite delicious. They had crab legs! And really good chicken! Me and Autumn were determined to eat the hell out of the 10.75 we paid, and we did a really good job, since stomach pains were achieved.
Jiaqi had earlier looked for Lilo and Stitch at Wal-Mart, but to no avail, so we headed over to a Blockbuster that was going out of business. I found the Cowboy Bebop Best Sessions set and...and...Digimon: The Movie. *_* Upon purchase, my name was called, I turned around, and saw my middle school band director. The first words out of my mouth were "What are you doing here?!"
"I live here."
"Oh."
"Better question, what are you doing here?"
"I'm in college. 8D"
"...Oh dear."
When we got back to Neptune, we wanted to watch MOAR Doctor Who, so we packed up and went to the East fourth floor lounge to watch on the nice and big plasma. We picked up Deborah at this point and proceeded to watch Blink (which is FREAKY), The Impossible Planet, the episode I call 'The Doctor versus Satan', and then The Unquiet Dead, which has the Ninth Doctor (the non-Tennant one).
On Blink:
Jiaqi: I wonder how many statues they had to make.
Kat: We're pissing our pants and you're wondering how many statues they had to make?
(Answer: They weren't statues, they were mimes in really good make-up.)
Sunday was more eating brunch, taking a nap, then going to the steel drum concert down at the music building. I ended up getting an idea and drawing in my sketchbook (which I have at all the concerts to give me something to do). And I thusly drafted up my concept for a companion to the Doctor. >__>; But since I really have no ideas how it really all works, I just leave her as like, a special-only character. XD;
Monday was pretty boring, as Stats was a recitation and Art 100 had so few of us there. I took to putting together my final portfolio for the class and then getting advice on my capstone project. It's a 30x40" self-portrait, and mine has evolved a bit. At first, it was just a side-view of my head composed of quotes rather than lines and value, but I drew it too small on the paper and the prof was trying to tell me to do something a bit different (that would've taken forever). I took the paper off the easel a bit discouraged, but then she saw these two doodles I have on the back.
For once...for once! A teacher is encouraging me to draw anime. She seemed rather confused that I create all my own characters and write original stories from nothing...so she said that, to fill up the negative space, I could seperate the background into panels, drawing my characters, and have random bits of speech bubbles and stuff. MY MIND IS BLOWN
Tuesday had all but one of my classes canceled. Yeah. My 6pm Art 102 class? NOT CANCELED. But we were out of there pretty quick, and Terumi and I were hungry, so we went to the Junction, got foods, then came back to Neptune and watched EVEN MOAR Doctor Who with Autumn and Deborah. We saw Army of Ghosts, Doomsday, and The Runaway Bride before being kicked out at 12:30. I worked on my companion concept some more, had Terumi go 'TEACH ME' (to which I went 'draw a circle...and some hair'), and not crying at the season 2 finale since I've seen the season 4 one. :P
THIS IS A REALLY LONG POST I KNOW
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, or Turkey Day, and I'm busting out the random DVD roulette for my MST3K marathon. Laserblast has juuuust finished (end credits rolling). Looks like it's going to be just me and the family tomorrow.
Oh, and this is totally random, but if anyone wants an actual, physical Christmas card from me (you know, sent in the mail), drop me a word saying so...
