Two weeks left of the semester (not counting finals, which mine are on the first two days anyhow). It's been surprisingly lax in the workload, but my otherwise freetime has been spent doing my advising job. Thank God that wrapped up this past week, as registration for everyone opened up on Wednesday.
My schedule for the next semester is subject to change, as in, it's subject to have one more class on it. Right now it's prety set in stone, and I'm in the important classes, so I'm not going to budge out of them.
Monday-Wednesday
English 200 (Literary Study: Research and Criticism) - 10 to 10:50am
ArtS 200 (Beginning Life Drawing) - 6 to 8:40pm
Tuesday-Thursday
Illustration I - 8 to 10:45am
Painting 1 - 11am to 1pm
Friday
English 200 again
I'm hoping to add a Sociology class so that I can kinda keep up with staying on track and the like. The one I'm looking at is closed at the moment, but it's right after the English class and is out before noon, which would be perfect for me still going home to work on the weekends and give me a nice break between that and the Life Drawing class.
Hmmm...
My theme, persay, for the last two days was to relax and enjoy myself and spend time with my parents. Lately I haven't been working double-days on the weekends, so I'll either not come home until Saturday or leave immediately Saturday afternoon to get back to campus. Primarily it's because I wanted to just get back and spend time with my friends, since in the first semester I hardly got to just hang out with them as I was always working.
But yesterday was a bit special, as I had specifically taken the day off in order to watch the BBC America premiere of Doctor Who season one five fnarg. I'd been planning to do it for a while, since the creation of a Chat event was inevitable...
I somehow managed to wrangle my parents into watching the premiere with me. It isn't that much of a stretch, as they do watch a considerable amount of television from BBC A, so seeing commercials would've been standard. Now the odd part is that my dad is the guy I could always get into something sci-fi/fantasy related, and who will watch MST3K with me and has even dabbled in some of my anime, whereas my mom hates the stuff (well, the sci-fi/fantasy stuff). She, however, was the one who wanted to watch Doctor Who the most, but I'm guessing my random fantarding moments throughout the months has gotten them curious as well.
The primary reason I wanted them to watch was so that I could see it on the HDTV (which I named Cujo). So we nestled down and watched Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide at 7, which they paid little attention to (though I think Mom likes Donna, the snippets she saw). Finally at 8 came the premiere, and ohhhhmygawd it went over very well. XD First off, it was VERY pretty on Cujo, but it was also fun to have my parents there watching it with me and making comments and asking me questions. (My dad kept asking me things that would result in answers of "That'll be addressed in ten minutes".)
I think the best part, though, came at a point during a commercial break where my mom stood up to get something and said, "I don't usually like sci-fi, but this is good." Then Mom and Dad got in a (slight) argument over sci-fi and fantasy. :B
In the end, I was just really happy to introduce them to one of my fandoms and have them enjoy it. The rest of the semester is looking to be a bit more work, as I have to buckle down and get my finals for 3D and drawing done, so I'll be spending my weekends getting back to campus immediately. One last hurrah, however, is that next Saturday, me and my two compadres Terumi and Jiaqi are going to the Doctor Who Store. Yes, that place has a physical location, and it's here. >8D
