Today was quite the day, as it involved a lot of eating of new food and fighting my way out of having to see "Step Up 3", the former of which was very tasty and the latter being successful.
Some issues made this another weekend with just me, Terumi, and the arsenal of friends that make me feel very out of place being white. My main partner today was Angela, who was Chinese and therefore understood none of the Japanese being tossed out. Huzzah not speaking languages!
After killing some time at the mall, we went to this kind-of festival at this supermarket, Mitsuwa. It wasn't really a festival, I mean, there weren't booths or anything, just one main display, some games (like catching the goldfish with a paper paddle), and food. I had octopus balls (which are good!) some sort of chicken-on-a-stick (also good!) and yakisoba (still good!). Some time later, this group we had collected went over to a Korean karaoke place to do just that.
There were nine of us crammed into this small room. Worst was that we only had an hour to sing, because there was a line and we were basically getting kicked out...Good news, it was very cheap. And even better, I got to sing four times. We sang in pairs, mainly because two people would agree on a song or somebody else would know it...I did Alejandro, Bye Bye Bye (I know, shh), Bohemian Rhapsody (which the whole room ended up singing), and Don't Stop Me Now.
What's really fun is just getting totally into it and belting it all out. You can't hear yourself sing, but everyone else can of course, yet the mood is so lax that it's really a time to have fun. I was only nervous for a little bit, but then afterwards got over it and had a good time. I later got complimented on my singing, which is really funny. Still, I had a way good time with DSMN.
I woulda been a weeaboo and sung some Japanese songs, but the lyrics on the screen are in the characters, not romaji, so I was totally screwed. I was able to remember most of Fukai Mori when my friends sang it, but dang if I don't have the voice to hit the chorus.
Anyways, I'm tired and sore, so...see you tomorrow. :V
