RiffTrax Live was a good time, even if Ryu ditched out on me and I went by myself (*STARE*). This time around, the theater decided to put it in the theater that would normally be showing Cats and Dogs 2. I know they suffered a loss for this, but hey, thems the way it goes.
I ended up chatting to this old guy and some slightly-older-than-me dude before the show went down. We had a good time being nerds and basically trying to out-nerd each other, interwoven with them trying to figure out how old I was and how I got into MST3K.
There were three shorts before the movie. The first was about gasoline and why not to wash your clothes in gasoline. The second was my favorite, since it was about grass. No, not that grass. Grass. Just...grass. And crafts you can do with it. Then the third was some weird animated thing that really made no sense but was George Washington's favorite cartoon.
The movie, Reefer Madness, was so weird, and not by fault of the RiffTrax crew. It was about the dangers of marihuana (yes) and...things. But it had like, no action. There wasn't a first, second, and third act. It felt like it wrapped up in the second act, but noooo, it had to go on. So yeah, it's a bit of an awkward thing to kinda be like "okay, you're done!" but have another half-hour to go. It's like the Doctor Who TV movie that way.
After the show, I ran into some sophomore (now senior) friends of mine. And we chatted. For like, an hour. Honestly, I need to be told to shut up because I will just keep going. But that was nice and a fun catch-up.
Tomorrow I'm moving into the dorm, which has been very much looked forward to. Now I just need to finish packing, meaning I still have about half my load to go. >>
