I've been punted off to help in the third floor office of the art building. It's the base for my old home of vis comm, meaning I'm rather familiar with the secretary (who likes me) and the professors who take office here.
It's a bit discouraging to not be doing anything, which was the case when I was down in the main office. And for some reasons, all the hours for peer advising were...scheduled around the times I didn't work. Inquiring about this got me nowhere, so I accepted the inevitable (that I was taking up space) and offered myself up to do anything.
Which led me to being punted off to the third floor.
There's two computers up here, a PC and a Mac, and I'm on the Mac for reasons that are beyond me. But it makes me sad, especially because this keyboard makes me type slower. I also cannot figure out the alternative to right-click functions (IE, using spell check), so that is another thing that'll hopefully be learned along the way.
And I still say the interface is counter-intuitive WAIT WTF WHY DIDN'T PRESSING END TAKE ME TO THE END OF THE LINE AHHHHHH to my brain, which has been formulated for about 16 years on an ever-evolving Windows interface. Eat it, Apple! *hits self*
Man I hate this keyboard.
The thing I'm terrified of the most is answering the phone, and no, not for that reason. It's because 90% of the time, I'll be met with a question that I have no idea how to answer. Or I'm going to have to forward the call to someone whose number I don't know off the top of my head like Flo (the secretary, the one that likes me) does.
So it'll be a learning experience.
