Yesterday was a trip to Northern Illinois University due to a special invite for honors kids. Throughout much of the event, I was...drawing. I know, I have no shame. I mean, nobody saw me, since I had it on my lap and under the table cloth rather than blatantly out in the open...
There was an intro speaker, who talked about things I already knew. Then the department heads did their thing, and as it turns out, the lady from the visual arts college was last. And dear God, the engineer guy was terrible. On and on and on and on and on...even my dad, the engineer, kept mumbling "Wrap it up buddy, wrap it up..."
After that, there was about an hour-long break, so Dad and I walked around and went to the Village Commons Bookstore, which sells everything and has one of the most amazing art sections I've ever seen ever. I bought a pencil to replace the one Brian lost [jerk >_>] and a silver Sharpie [they're very handy]. After lunch, there was more talking, so I drew some more. This time, my dad realized what I was doing, turned around, and asked "Um, are you even paying attention?" Yes Dad, I am. I just need to do something or I'll go insane.
Then there was a tour of the dorm hall for honors students, and I liked it a lot. Their cafeteria-lounge space was this giant room, and on one of the walls were these massive collages of stuff from France, Germany, and Japan. I saw a large Totoro and Doreamon on that, which made me giggle. And it was air-conditioned, so I imagine I would lurk there a lot like how I lurk in the basement when it gets hot.
Today, I went out and bought myself a pair of [navy] bluuuuuue Converse. I now reside in the company of the Doctor, TV's Frank, and Mike.
Though when I put them on, I went "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!" Serious love for the All Stars. Very comfortable and, since my jeans tend to end prematurely [I'm that awkward height between a petite and a regular], the high-tops help fill in the gap.
Also, ALPACAS! [Explanation: I saw alpacas today with my mom. They are oh-so-adorable.]
