WARNING: Here there be spoilers. If you haven't gotten to the shows yet, turn away now. And now, a preview text-moving bar. :D
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fullmetal Alchemist ep 53 & 54: So this episode, we got to see Roy go balls-to-the-wall insane against Envy and he didn't disappoint. The guy is a beast when he's serious. Boiling the water in someone's eyes? Melting the fat in someone's tongue? That is the epitome of badassery. I can't even remember if anything else that was really important happened in that episode, because Roy is that freaking awesome. I think you guys can forgive me for not going into any detail on that one.
Then we get to episode 54 and I actually cried for Envy. I won't deny it. I felt sad for him and even though I knew he deserved what he got, the way Ed described how he actually felt the whole time and Envy's death speech just hit me hard. And then he killed himself. I'm gonna miss the little freak. ;~;
And then there's Armstrong. Oh God, Armstrong. The man is made of GAR and just doesn't stop. He landed a hay maker on Sloth. Do you see how big that sucker is? And he lifted him off the ground. And then proceeded to beat the hell out of him all over again and put another pillar through Sloth's head. I mean, seriously. Even Olivier was proud of him. And that says something. (Also, I love the one-woman zombie death squad she became in the background while Alex was fighting Sloth. Her badass level continues to rise.)
Arakawa Under the Bridge ep3: You know, watching this series and comparing it to other WTF anime that I've watched in the past, I've come to realize that Arakawa is actually pretty tame. Seriously, think about it. Compare it to something like Excel Saga. Very, very tame in comparison. However, just in term of art style and scene cuts, I think this feels a bit more like Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei (which I still need to finish watching), though that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Anyway, in regards to the episode proper, Hoshi continues to amuse me with his presumptuous ways and Sister continues to be awesome (I love how Takehito Koyasu managed to sneak a Jade laugh in there are the end of the episode). Ric continues to be a goober and Nino is just Nino. I don't know how I feel about her just yet (she's the only character I haven't really formed an opinion about and she's a lead. That doesn't really bode well.) At this point, I kinda want to see more of the Mayor. And all the other characters that show up in the OP. (Though I have to admit, the date montage did amuse me a little.)
Angel Beats! ep. 4: Ah, the required baseball episode. We got to learn more about Hinata this time, which was really nice because he's one of the more normal members of the Alliance and I like him, but his death seems particularly sad. I'm not sure how I feel about the little devil moe machine that's apparently now a main character, but the interaction between her and Hinata make her tolerable (I guess that means I'm leaning on the side of the fence that says “Go die in a ditch”, haha.) Unexpected twist on an expected ending was a nice touch, though, I thought.
Durarara! Ep 1: This series seems to be really interesting. I don't quite know what the center is yet, since I only watched the first episode, but people are raving about this show and a synopsis I read has done enough to pique my interest, so I'll keep going with it, if I can stand the damn Crunchyroll ads interrupting the show every 10 minutes. =/
Still need to watch: Uraboku, House of Five Leaves
