The Random Fact Thing

I thought it was interesting to read the “27 Random Facts About Me” posts that some people have made thus far, so I decided to do one of my own.

27 Random Facts About Ceiling Cat

1. I have three 3' bookshelves filled with books: two with manga, one with regular novels. Most of the books in the regular novel bookshelf are filled with classics, but to look at it from the front, all you see are a complete set of The Dresden Files (to-date and one is hardback with the others paperback) and Books 1-9 of The Legend of Drizzt series.

2. I have a small collection of stuffies that I have accumulated over the years. They all have names. Included are a snowy owl named Gale that I got from the National Zoo and a cow named Kaukashi that I got from none other than Mimminx. (Yes, I still have him.)

3. When I was 16, a cat followed me home. She walked right into the house after me. I remember I fed her dry cereal (probably the worst thing ever to feed a cat) and water. I convinced my mom to let me keep her, but ultimately, I let her go because I knew that I wouldn't be able to take care of her properly. (I named her Amber, by the way.)

4. Whenever I listen to a song, I imagine a scene in my head to go with it. What type of scene it is depends on the song. If it's something fast-paced with a heavy beat, it may be a fight scene or a race scene. If it's something soft or something with an easy melody, it's usually a dance scene (most likely ballet or a soft ballroom routine, like a Viennese waltz). If it's a band I'm really familiar, it may just be a music video. It's somewhat weird.

5. I hate repeating myself. Like, absolutely hate it. If you ask me to repeat something I said not 10 seconds ago, I am likely to act very standoffish toward you. I have no idea why it aggravates me, but it really does. =/

6. I've grown very fond of hats, recently. I only have two at the moment, a black and white checkered painter's cap and a wool skate-punk deal (Missay, Ducky, you know the one), but I really want to add to my collection.

7. My favorite styles of dance are the pasa doble, Bollywood and breakdancing. The reason for this is there are a lot of technical aspects involved and a lot of passion that goes into each of them. They get me really excited. =3

8. Outside of cats (big and small), my favorite animals are sea lions.

9. When I was in grade school, I usually missed between 20-30 days out of the school year because I hated it so much. Fortunately, excused absences go a long way. (The funny thing is, I still usually made the Honor Roll.)

10. I can't stand to have anyone behind me in any sense. If I'm walking down the street and I see someone behind me, I usually slow my pace enough to let them catch up and pass me. It just creeps me out to think that there's someone in my vicinity that I can't see.

11. If I'm about to go into a building and there are people behind me, I'll always hold the door open for them.

12. If I could get away with it, I would wear a T-shirt and jeans every single day. They're the only things I feel completely comfortable in.

13. When I found out that the apartment complex I lived in until I went to college would be torn down, I cried. It still hurts every time I walk by the site, namely because all it is right now is a partially fenced segmented field of grass.

14. When I go for walks, I always sing (though I tend to quiet if I pass by someone).

15. I have never recommended a book or author I haven't read myself.

16. I sometimes buy books I don't intend to read. I think that's the bibliophile in me. > >;

17. Talking on the phone is somewhat awkward for me. Unless I consider them a good friend, I would much rather communicate with someone through e-mail or on an IM client.

18. I have movies in my DVD collection that I still haven't watched.

19. I've had a love affair with mythology since I was small. So far, I have working knowledge of Japanese, Roman and Norse mythology (the last of which I actually took a course in in college). I want to learn more, though.

20. I would actually love to become an expert on pre-Meiji Japanese history, namely the shogunate era. It seems like such an interesting subject.

21. I find Russian, Gaelic, and Spanish-Spanish to be incredibly sexy languages.

22. I'm afraid of spiders, lizards, insects, and some species of birds.

23. The only horror movie I've ever been able to watch is Shaun of the Dead (and that barely counts).

24. There is nothing that pisses me off more than seeing animals abused except for seeing children abused.

25. When I was in sixth grade, my class took a trip to Washington, D.C. During the course of the trip, I and the people that shared a room with me slept through our wake-up call and several attempts to wake us up by people knocking on our door. When one of us finally answered, several people told me (seriously) they thought I'd killed my roommates and ran off. (That was about the time I started getting angry about people teasing me.)

26. I actually quoted the “Prose Before Hoes” Threadless T-shirt to one of my professors in college. He looked at me like he wished he could flunk me on the spot. XD

27. I linked another professor to the “The History of the Word F---” flash cartoon through an e-mail. He told me it was quite possibly the best thing ever. God, he was awesome.
