Halls of Grey

HALLS OF GREY:
Memories of the past

As I walk these halls of grey, I see stains of crimson blood, rain drops fall from the sky. They are fast asleep, unaware of their doom. Tick, tick, tick, tick, the bomb is almost ready. I grab you, still sleeping, from your cage. Running to the safety of the plains, you awake crying because of the death of our mother and father. You, the angel of heaven and I, the angel of hell, will fight for our family. Now the only family we have is our brothers and sisters, the fifty born of the yin and yang of the worlds. The other angels are in the plain awaiting your return. We are in a never ending war with the humans that hate us so. With all of us together we can live but if our chain it broken we fall. We reach the plain just as the bomb goes of and kills the humans that took you from us. The oldest comes to check on you as I lay you in your bed. “Sissy why do they hate us? They were your friends.” You say. “They don’t hate us they just fear what they understand. Since we aren’t human they don’t understand.” I say as I kiss your cheek and tuck you in tight. You fall asleep while I tell you about mom and dad.
“Mom had almost golden white hair, and was so nice. She married dad but hated him, but secretly loved him. She got tired of him and divorced him and married a human. She loved him so much, but couldn’t see that her leaving dad hurt all of us, but she still was excepting a new born child, you. She died shortly after you were born.” You yawn so sweetly, I think to myself, my sweet little brother you never knew her but you look just like her. I’ll never let them hurt you I swear on her grave. “And dad had no hair, and was nice too but was drunk a lot. He loved mom like there was no tomorrow. He gave her everything and gave her us. When you were born he was so happy, but mom wouldn’t let him near you because you’re the heaven angel. But when she wasn’t home I let him in to see you.” Just then you where asleep, I sighed but smiled.
You are all I have left of them, the last angel, and the last child. I will protect you with my life. I will never let you fall, never. Just as Karin promised me, no one will harm you, I swear on my grave. Why did they turn on me, I am their care taker and they just turned their backs on me. I keep wondering as I fall genteelly asleep in Geniku’s arms, our loving big brother.
That’s one of the good memories of you. You never knew I was killed, you just thought I was on a mission. Or was I?
“Amber will you stop with the daydreaming,” Ember demanded, “You need to stop. You worry me.” She’s right I need to stop looking back at the past. “Sorry Ember, I can’t help it.” Ember is always right; I just can’t help but remember you. “Ember, why can’t I go back?” “Oh Amber you miss brother. He’s heaven’s angel, and you died.” “What if someone brings me back?!?” I ask trying so hard to go back to the human world. “Amber for the last time…wait go ahead.” “Really, you mean I can try?” “Yes.” I run to the door as you look sad.
“Wow, so this is what the mortal world looks like now.” I was see through to those few that could see me. You walk by. “Brother!” I run up and hug you, “Oh I missed you so much.” Your friends can see me, and look at me like I’m a ghost, well wait I am. “Sister, you’re alive?” “Well, uh……uh no” Your friends are freaking out as I fly, with my flaming angel wings. ‘Sister, why are you flying out in the OPEN?!?!?!?!” “Not many can see me. So why worry. Have you not shown your wings and halo? You could at least show your friends.” “Sister, I can’t. The war is still going on is some places.” “Oh, sorry, do you know where the others are at least? If not all some.” “No, we all took our own path. I chose to live a human life.” “Brother, do you know how to bring people back?” “Uh yeah, why?” “Will you bring me back?” “Yes, guys you know how I said my sister died? Well this is my sister.” “What, she can’t be, she’d have to be one of the non-humans.” One said. “What makes you think that I’m human, I’m the human care-taker.” “Well, it’s uh, nice to meet you. My name’s Chad.” “Nice to meet you too Chad. My name is Amber.” “This is Chino, He’s an idiot.” “I am not!!!!” “Brother can you bring me back now, please.” “Sure, but we need to hide somewhere first.” We hide in an old factory, and you bring me back.
