Greatest Love Duet
There are many great love songs, but this one is one of the most epic. Happy Valentine's Day!
Happy Alligator!
At least three days a week lately are focused on my work with my church's Savior of the World production, performances beginning in a month. Fortunately, I have most of the props by now; I'm in charge of props. Just need the stage builders to make a couple other things. Today at rehearsal, I didn't actually focus on the stage; I was in the back of the cultural hall with one of the cast member's young daughter. I had some crayons and paper in my backpack (as I tend to do) so I drew some stuff and she colored. We did a Snow White first, then a seal eating banana bread (she said she likes banana bread and she liked the stuffed seal I had with me), and then an alligator playing basketball. Not just any alligator: a happy alligator. I love how kids think sometimes!
Sigh, no more Fairy Tale on On Demand. I'm watching the 'King of the Nerds' reality competition on TBS, but it's disheartening at how trollish these people are being to each other in real life. I know it's a competition, but can't you guys be nicer to each other. If we nerds fight amongst ourselves, how can we marshall our forces against our detractors?! I'm also watching FaceOff on SyFy, which is the awesome competition series for special effects makeup. And I've been pruning my reference pictures I've gotten from various magazines and art books. I used to have four binders of quotes and lyrics, clothes, figure poses, and other images; now I'm down to two binders and a notebook.
I have started to re-watch some of my personal anime collection; watched Scryed this week. I haven't watched the series in a year or so and re-watching it does remind me why I love it. Mostly because of Cougar. Lots of people have lots of issues with the characters in Scryed, but I love Cougar because he really does seem surprisingly normal. For one thing, he's nuts about reading; you have to love a guy that'll exercise his mind as much as his body. He's a crazy, hyperactive guy that did everything he could to impress the girl he loves and make her happy, but couldn't quite get her away from the emo twit she's been in love with since childhood. And then the ending; aw, man.

Down time
Sigh, stayed home all yesterday to see if I could beat the cold I had. I'm pretty sure I picked it up at church because where else would I be in the vicinity of so many kids? And we all know that if you want to catch anything, you should be around kids. I slept a lot due to taking medicine and I think I've got it all beat now, but not quite. Fortunately, I don't get sick easily or often.
I should've used the time to watch a lot of anime that I want to re-watch, but since I was sleeping a lot, it wouldn't have been much use. I did watch the newest released episodes of Fairy Tail on the Funimation On Demand channel; they finished the Thunder Legion arc and Laxus got the boot. FT is the only thing I'm consistently On Demanding right now. Wish I could order all the episodes of Blood + from the Streampix section (looks like they've got the whole series up), but they're not free and as my parents pay for it, they wouldn't like having to pay a dollar or whatever per ep. The Funimation section also has the original Hellsing TV series for purchase per episode, but I don't need to worry about missing out on that as I have all the 13 episodes on DVD (yeah, it's the TV series, not the OVA.)
I'm working a little bit right now, four hours a week cleaning one of the banks in town. Sadly, I only get $10 an hour and after work takes out medical and other taxes, I'm only left with $11 a week. And that's not enough, not when I'm having to drive around twice as much due to Savior of the World rehearsals. Not that I begrudge having to go to rehearsals; I'm the props mistress and it's a lot of fun. The production's coming up the second half of March and I can't wait.
Update
Boy, it's been a while since I posted. Well, my parents have been in town for the holidays and they wouldn't be too pleased to see me spending much time on theO. I don't think they've much liked my anime habits since I ran up a big credit card bill buying DVDs back in college; one more thing they bailed me out on. Unless I win the lottery or something, I'll really never be able to repay them.
But during the holidays, I did like spending time with family. My new little nephew my sister and her husband adopted four months ago finally became legally theirs, as in all the paperwork is done through the courts and all. So he was sealed to them and we had the naming and blessing; this is pretty much the whole christening thing for Mormons. He's about five months old now and so cute. My parents came from Germany where they're working now just to see him; normally they only come to the States in the summer.
I'd done a month of ringing the Salvation Army bell outside my local grocery store for a job; that was fun, but very cold work. Now that's over and it's back to hunting, though I've kinda got something going through the temp agency with doing some housekeeping jobs here and there. But that's not gonna be enough and I'm hoping something full-time comes along.
Watching much anime was also out while my parents were here, but now I've borrowed the entire Hetalia series (well, all that's been licensed so far) from my local library and I'll watch that, Fairy Tail on On Demand, and Adult Swim. Right now I'm only really watching Samurai Seven and Eureka Seven as Bleach is in reruns and I'm not bothering to rewatch the original FMA series or anything else. I wish they could show some Bandai stuff again; AS seems a little limited now that they've only got Funi and Viz shows. Or they're just choosing poorly.
Bell Ringing
So I got a temporary full-time job ringing a bell for the Salvation Army in front of my local grocery store; I've done it for two weeks now (started a couple days before Thanksgiving) and will go all the way through to Christmas Eve. It's a pretty good job: I mean, I'm doing something to raise lots of money for charity (must be pulling several hundred bucks a day by my guess) and I get paid for it. The downsides are that my feet hurt from standing all day, 40 hours a week, and it can get cold. But it's good to see people sticking their change or a bill in the kettle. Love when the kids do it; they seem to like hearing my bell. And I try to stay smiling by thinking about amusing stuff; it's like the old saying "Sometimes I stands there and thinks and sometimes I just stands there."
Of course, this has reduced my anime-watching as I no longer have as much free time as when I'm unemployed. And when I get home at 7 at night, I'm often so tired that I'm asleep by 10. That and lately I've been going through all the Agatha Cristie movies I've borrowed from my library; lots of Poirot and some Miss Marple. I suppose that with Naruto staring on Adult Swim this weekend I might give it a shot, but I wasn't thrilled the first time so I don't foresee getting into it now. Mostly now I watch Bleach, Samurai Seven, and Eureka 7, then go to sleep. Well, I do have to get up for church at 9 on Sunday morning.
