Let's have a few short ones

This one was actually a recurring nightmare.

The sound of tortured screams can be heard in many directions for varying distances, but all in serious pain. Eyes open to the scene of a large room. At second glance it's actually more of a jail cell. I'm inside a hanging cage in about the center of the room. Below the cage is quite the pit of lava (magma? don't know if I'm underground or not). I'm a little more focused now and take note that there are windows around the pit, but they don't seem to follow any pattern. I try to focus on one window, to see if I can see anything beyond it, when a resounding BOOM shakes my surroundings. The booms continue in the pattern of footsteps, but definitely something very big. Suddenly text and warnings start to scroll across my glasses (no matrix jokes, this was way before that movie). The booming stops and my cage jolts in one direction. Shaken, I look up to see a fiery pair of eyes. The world starts to fall upward and a warmth builds behind me. Just how long is the eternity between realization and eternity... darkness...

Here's a more recent one, it's kinda fuzzy in my head though.

It's cold. I have to keep movie for them. Family is the only thing that keeps me leading them North. My Mother, Aunt, and I are in a snow covered woods somewhere close to the USA/Canada border. The hordes aren't too far behind us. We come over a ridge to find a well fortified farm populated by a good number of people. Time jumps while we're here, but I know we had at least a moment's hope that this place could be the refuge we prayed for. No such luck. Not a week after our arrival, the echos of moans and shuffling can be heard coming along the same trail we took. Everyone springs into action, grabbing what weapons we have. My Mother goes to secure escape routes while my Aunt mans a mounted turret set up in the doorway of the barn. I'm handed a shotgun and as always have my sword strapped to my back. The fences hardly even slow the undead down. As with all battles, details become blurred. I remember that we were overrun. I'm bitten on the arm trying to knock back the flood. I'm given a moment of clarity to look back at the other survivors. We all know I'm a lost one now... but, that wasn't the time for tears. I nod to my Aunt and she understands it's time to run. She gives one last volley from the turret to clear the newest wave in front of me. The humans run... I draw my sword... This is both the greatest and worst moment of this miserable existence. A single tear runs down my cheek as I let out a feral roar and charge the sea of cursed souls. I'm not all that eager to join them, so I make sure they get a large helping of steel before they get another taste of me. My last view is of a warrior standing atop a mountain of decay, veins blackened, eyes white, defying the curse that claimed so many.

That is a nightmare to me. Zombies are a real fear of mine O.o Other than a microscopic threat, what could be worse then the dead raising to devour the living?

Please, point others to this TheO "World", I can't be the only one who remembers these flashes of other worlds (he means nightmares, Brian's just really into that writing style at the moment... crazy person).

It has begun (mortal kombat voice)

This will be a place for anyone who wants to can post their nightmares.

I personally have a few good ones that are real mind stretchers ^_^

Ok, let's put down some ground rules eh?

Keep it clean. Those words that could push us over PG-13 should be censored !@#$ it. Yeah, just like that if you feel they need to be in there.

I'm putting no length limit on these, but uh... maybe they should be at least a paragraph or so in length. Actual story mind you, any social build up is cool though.

Anything else... I'd like them to be actual nightmares, not works of fiction, but... I have no way to prove that, so let me have what you've got.

Oh yeah, SPREAD THE WORD, I want as many people as we can get to post here, and I'll reveal my reasons at some point, but not till I have enough participation.

Just a taste

Here's to get you started.

I just had the most frightening dream of my life, so far. Before I get to telling the dream, I need to give some background. Recently I have been recruiting people to go ghost hunting with me seriously. I've always talked about it, but now I'm actually talking to church officials (through Eric, my exorcist and religious buff) and researching equipment. Anyways...

The dream, or nightmare rather....
I'm not sure who the person was, but I had a sense that he was a good friend of mine of many years. This person (we shall name him Bob for my convenience) was reporting about a haunting in a church (crap, I'm starting to lose it). This haunting I think was well known, because there was a display behind him about related religious facts about...demons. This display is important to the whole fear thing. He has 2 nuns and a priest with him. They are there to pray around him as he gives his report, to prevent (or provoke, I can't remember which now. But, believe me, I would never send someone to provoke a demon, period.) the demon from harming him. Well, he starts talking about the demon specifically, and the camera (my perspective of this event is through the camera. Not sitting somewhere cushy and watching on TV, I'm there, as the camera.) pans to look at the display, and the big picture on Bob's left has changed. It has become a distorted image of the church we are in (I can't remember if it started out as a normal picture of the church. And, no, I don't know what church it is either.). Everything is ok for a couple for comments, then Bob gives out a "Woah!" and the nuns and priest who had circled him break their circle around him for just a moment.

Now, what happens next is the scary part (after a few LESS scary events).

The camera pans once again to the display, and it has changed completely. It now depicts something that looks like either fallen crosses on fire, or helmets with crosses on top covering a blood drenched battlefield (at this point, I'm quite shaken.) What's next is even worse though. Bobs lets out a grunt, and the nuns and priest are thrown back, severing the circle completely. My view was shaken by one nun slamming into me. But, when Bob came back into view, his face was contorted to one side, his skin had turned a sick greenish yellow color, his teeth had become pointed, his tongue was sticking about 2 feet out of his gaping mouth, and he was making a gurgling sound. Next thing I knew, he (break in story, I have to stop shaking for a moment, my parents just started snoring like Bob's gurgling, and it's freaking me out) turned right to the camera and said, "Brian, I am here to tell you that your purpose in life is to bring about utter chaos in the world." Background music has struck up at this point. It is a crescendo (please someone check the spelling on that) of chorus voices. (you know, the one that is scary, I wish I could just make the noise. Think of wind howling in increasing volume and pitch. Oh, and god help me, but the wind just picked up outside our room. JUST picked up, and now it's gone) I can feel, see, and just all around know, that the camera is dropped. As it's falling, the voices build, and right at the climax, the camera halts (sitting up somehow) looking at the display. It has become a devil looking thing wreathed in fire (it had been a black and white picture before, now it is full of vivid color and almost alive looking.). Oh, and the figure in the picture was laughing...I couldn't hear it. But, I felt it, in all of my being. I felt it.

Night started ok with a "normal" dream. My roommate, a girlthat'safriend that I haven't seen for a while, and I were walking around our campus. We went into a building that wasn't supposed to be there, and an old teacher of mine was in there...in the only room in the whole 20 story building. We get into one of the corner elevators and start riding. On the way up I put my arm around Rachel (the girl) and we're close for about 3 seconds and I wake up.

Dang it right? Well, I went for a wiz brake and went back to sleep...on my right side rather than my left. I point this out because it may be a contributing factor.

Now the scaryish portion. Some people may not find it scary, but I woke up in a cold sweat with my heart goin' 90 to nothin'.

Anyways. I'm on a train, woo~. The car behind mine becomes detached and I jump off (O.o why the heck would I do this?) to try and reconnect it. Well, I realize that this was a bad idea, and try to catch up with the train. I'm running and I catch up to it, but the back door's locked (I must have run pretty fast). Oh well, I'll just take the bus that was pacing us (again, wtf). Well, we have a motley crew on the bus, and for some reason I feel like it's just one of my classes. We get to some big city and go into someone's house. It's just me and the old lady driver in there. She picks up a bike and heads out of the garage. There's only one bike left and it's like a low rider with no air in the tires. I ditch the bike and just run. I meet the rest of the class passing me on the way to our destination. I show up after everyone else to an old mansion and everyone's lined up shoulder to shoulder in front of it. [my point of perception changes here to that of a camera in a movie] I find myself in a bathroom with this gorgeous girl. A voice inside my head says... "You have to face reality." A red mark suddenly sprouts on the girl's left cheek. It begins to expand and she screams as it opens to be a mouth. She begins to convulse and a second face begins to sprout from hers. She falls to the ground still convulsing and she splits into 2 people. I look at the original girl to see if she's ok. Crying and scared out of her wits, but she's fine. I look to the copy, and it's a Medusa version of the girl. She seems to be fine, and then the snake hair disconnects from her head and begins to attack her. She falls into a fetal position covered by the snakes. None of them are biting, but you get that feeling like they want to. She brings her right arm away from her face just enough to look out, and the snakes strike. The voice from before bursts into laughter and says "I'll be seein' you."

I wake up.

Yes, I'm covered in cold sweat, and that good ol' fight or flight instinct is telling me to get the !@#$ out of bed.
