No song title today. Sorry. I've got something to discuss.
When do you draw the line on something that bugs you? How do you draw it? How much maturity do those situations call for? When do you take a step back and realize that you are just as much a target as you are the shooter?
I prank people, and sometimes I take it too far. But,I have enough respect to stop when asked to. I don't ever prank people out of malice or just to hurt their feelings. I'm always lighthearted. But sometimes when people pull the snob switch on me and act like they're beyond pranking, then it really ticks me off.
For those who aren't acquainted with the UBlah fiasco. Boo and I hacked out a thing about our fellow moderators that hail from the Beehive State. It was a simple prank that meant no harm. We made banners and sported them on Otakuboards. I ribbed someone ONCE about it and I get my face bit off for it. Now in Darren's defense, he had seen a lot of heckling about it and he was obviously frustrated with it. I'm not so stupid as to keep antagonizing or argue over it, but when I see fellow moderators (you know who you are) saying they're gonna kick for something like that, that's just unacceptable.
We need to, as moderators project an image of professionalism. We are people too, and things will annoy us, but we need to stay cool under fire and realize the audience that we service. They are young and they bandwagon easily. So if you allow yourself to crack under that sort of thing and lash out, then you're really no better than the people who make fun of you. So stay cool.
And that's all I've had to say about that.
