BRIEF BACKSTORY
A legendary Dente warrior who was said to have been killed during the War of Titans, he actually survived by killing and feasting on Gedoes armies by himself.He spent the last decade living a solitary life,but eventually discovered a taste for fighting and killing. He is now interested in sharing his new ''passion'' with the world,invading various city areas with his own gang Therion.
PERSONALITY
While he has quite a barbarian's reputation,he is a lot quieter than one might think,when not fighting. He calmly orders his men around,though he sometimes gets excited if his troops are in a big fight.He enjoys commenting on those fights.
He is fairly simple and blunt; while he tolerates failure from his men and never attacks them for no reason, he will also seldom look out for their well-being (sometime nonchalantly cracking a laugh if they lose embarrassingly or die) and might kill a troop who nags him too much about anything. He is a bit more invested in his stronger gang members and can even sometimes show concern for them,in his own way.
Manticore's entire reason of living is fighting and massacring everything and everyone in his path;He is prone to loudly exclaiming his love for violence as he fights a battle he enjoys. Because he is so convinced that the natural state of the Dentes is in bloodshed,he sometimes goes on rants about trying to bring the species back to it's primal state
For him,war is glorious and to take steps to avoid it is tantamount to encouraging degeneracy. In his mind,it's outright selfish and evil of HYDE to run an orphanage as hes depriving the children from a chance to experience the glory of fending for yourself.
Due to Lust's influence, he surprisingly is a staunch supporter of gender equality and hates the sex-slavery market because according to him, ''everyone has the right for an opportunity to become strong'' and said market gets in the way of that.
BATTLE STATS
Fitting his monstrous reputation, Manticore is self-taught,but has no real technique beyond the ''One,Two Step'' which his a technique for superfast movement in short bursts. He can only move in straight lines when moving fast.
Manticore rarely punches or kicks his opponents,preferring violently ripping them apart by using his hands like claws. With his massive strength, he can often do literally that. He can usually kill his opponents in one or two attacks.
He is also extremely resilient; he shrugs off many attacks (like a drop kick to the face) and can easily fight though large amounts of blood loss.It is partly due to him having what he calls dragon scales. For those reasons,Manticore usually doesn't fight with his ability and many assume his bulk to be his ability.
His actual ability exists as a small parasitic monster he called ''Dragon''. They live in symbiosis and Dragon can freely leave or enter Manticore's body. Dragon can breathe powerful fire blasts at his foes while separated from Manticore and fly around supporting him this way during his fights. It is very good at coordinating it's attack with it's host's.
Dragon provides several weaknesses to Manticore as well,however; whenever Dragon leaves Manticore's body,the latter loses the dragon scales and becomes easier to injure. Dragon is also sentient and often quite selfish,even occasionally disobeying Manticore if hungry.
Manticore's biggest weakness,however, is his downright complusive habit of playing around with his stronger opponents until the last minute,when he's often injured. This causes him to just barely lose to HYDE,despite being much stronger than the latter.
Manticore has developed a special fused form with Dragon,allowing him to become a monstrous reptilian beast. Manticore rarely uses it though,as it's an anticlimax,to him.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Beyond being the main villain of the first book Theriomachy, Manticore is a static character for the most and only serves as an early obstacle and foreshadowing the Dentes' brand of Selfish Gene.
He makes brief appearances after his initial defeat; as a war prisoner forced into the Elysium war (along with Lust) by Gutworm in Book 2 and used as a King of the new RAGZ in Book 4. By that point,Manticore lost his jovial attitude about war and simply becomes a mass murderer who secretly feeds his own men to Dragon
NOTABLE RELATIONSHIPS
+Lust is quite possibly the only friend he sincerely cares about.Suggesting that Lust is *his* woman is one of his biggest pet peeves,but they are nearly always together and get along exceptionally well,due to their shared jolly attitude towards bloodshed and their tendency to casually mock their mooks' death.He actually gives her full authority over the rest of his gang,much to Ashtray's irritation.
+Despite Lust hating his guts and his being a blatant chauvinism,he likes Ashtray and is amused by his loyalty and brutish nature. He's laughing along with Lust when they think he's dead though.
