Fight?

“Hey, you know how to fight?” Zane blinked and was suddenly brought back to what was actually around him. A girl dark hair tied back in two pony tails with purple eyes was staring at him with her hands on her hips and a fixed expression. Zane raised his eyebrow and looked down at her.

“And who are you?” Zane asked somewhat irritated at dealing with someone that looked half his stature that was demanding some sort of fight. Just what I need…. Seriously…. Zane rolled his eyes. The last thing he really wanted to deal with had just walked up.

“My name’s Kiri. So, do you wanna fight me?” Kiri asked seeming to puff up again.

Zane just stared back and crossed his arms taking a half step back and leaning on his back foot calmly.

“Not really,” he answered keeping his face straight to make sure there was no miscommunication. “And why are you wanting to fight?”

“What does it matter? You look strong, so I want to fight,” Kiri answered back taking a sword from her side. She seemed to slide back as if ready to attack. Zane felt his eye move around the rest of the people in the area who seemed apathetic enough to not really care on the matters of a and a woman standing around even if the woman was carrying a sword.

“Meh….” Zane answered back rolling his eyes once again.

Kiri seemed to be ready to make another statement when suddenly a man came raining straight out of the sky. Falling straight onto the ground between both Zane and Kiri, a man was now laying on the ground swearing at himself.

“Ahhh! Crap! Crap crap!”the man said rubbing his head as he sat up. Standing up straight between Zane and Kiri, the man seemed to look around and realize where he was standing. A half terrified look crossed the man’s face as he looked from Zane to Kiri.

“And you are?” Zane questioned keeping his voice level and yet caustic.

Suddenly someone else was yelling. Zane turned around confused and found that a girl had come running through and was yelling about some rabbit or something. This day just kept getting weirder and weirder.

“What… the… hell…” Zane found the words flow out of him almost in a cyclic motion as he said them. Shaking his head, he looked back to find that the man who had come falling from the sky was starting to try and move away.

“Don’t move,” Zane ordered sharply causing the man to freeze in mid walking position. “Just what the heck is going on?”

The man seemed to turn around and gave almost a half laugh.

“My name is Hibiki, and I will be on my way now…” the man answered, but before he could walk away, Hibiki had already been seized by the back of the collar of his shirt. Zane pulled him back with one fluid motion.

“Alright then,” Zane continued. “And you are?” He made a sudden motion to the girl that had yelled about the rabbit. However, the girl didn’t answer right away and made a motion as if getting ready to defend herself if necessary. I shook my head sharply. Even in the lawless land that we all lived in, it was not wise to fight in the streets of a city especially a capital.

“…. My name is Hanatsuki,” the girl answered after a moment. Her voice was strange as she spoke, and Zane found that there were several vowels mispronounced.

Zane turned back to Kiri who seemed to be looking from Hibiki to Hanatsuki and finally to Zane himself.

“Didn’t expect this fight,” Kiri answered. “But hey why not… brawl then….”

My eye twitched, and I resisted the urge to shake my head.

“Brawl?” Hanatsuki said, but before Zane could answer, he noticed that Hibiki was trying to sneak off again. Grabbing the back of his shirt once again, Zane stopped him from going. He seemed disgruntled but made no motion to fight back.

“No,” Zane said after a moment.

“Come on!” Kiri seemed to demand, and finally I sighed. She didn’t seem to want to leave the issue alone, and Zane’s thoughts moved back to getting back to his ship and setting sale before anyone noticed what was in the hull of it.

“Fine… one fight,” Zane answered sighing.

Out of the corner of his eye, Zane noticed that Hibiki and Hanatsuki were both looking at each other in a confused motion. Zane put his hand on the hilt of his blade and waited patiently for Kiri to make a move.

“Ladies first,” Zane half smirked half mentally kicking himself at actually fighting a girl.
