Tribute to a Hero

Clone Syaoran; what was he to me? For one thing, he wasn't "just a clone". He was Syaoran. He was himself. He was an individual with no ability to control the horrid curse that dictated his existance.

Syaoran was an inspired person, with an innocent heart that he always followed, regardless of temptations. He was the hero, the knight in shining armor who swore to always protect Sakura, whatever the price may be. He defended what was important, and his strong, compassionate character was what drew others to him. People could connect with Syaoran because he had the strength to believe in himself, and the power to make others believe in a brighter future. Syaoran conquered his clouded past, and that is why he was the only one who could retrieve Sakura's scattered feathers.

His death is a heartwrenching memory that I must bear. But to know that his death was not in vain, that he died for the values in which he had so firmly placed his trust-- I am comforted. I know that in the end, Syaoran defied Fei Wang Reed, taking back his identity to insure that his friends might live to see the end of their sorrows. So in his final act, Syaoran changed the future's course and struck down that bleak destiny that would have awaited them all. He saved the original's life selflessly, and preserved the fate of everyone dear to him.

In Syaoran's passing, we must not dwell on the painful memories, but remember the beauty of his life's legacy. We must see his life for the adventure it was, inked into the pages of his story. He was a miracle. Born from the flames of a nightmare, with only half a heart to live on, and he stood tall. Syaoran faced adversity with a passion for justice and a will that was only broken when his soul had all but left him. He was the child that was not meant to be, but because he existed he took on life's responsibilities and lived his life without any regrets. He sacrificed all he had for a higher, enlightened purpose, never faltering for petty greed nor leaning toward an unhonest path. Though his road was a tough one to tred he did so proudly, voulintarily, and he only looked forward with a steadfast determination.

No, Syaoran was not merely a reflection- he was his own entity. We know the experiences he forged were his own, just as the choices he made were his. Circumstance, and how we respond to it make us who we are. Our choices shape us, our ideals give us our core, and our truths define us. That has always been the theme of Tsubasa- different places and different people that are worlds apart are linked to each other through face and voice. Syaoran may have been killed by the unforgivable act of Fei Wang Reed, but no one can make him fade entirely from existance. Not as long as he continues to dwell in the chambers of our hearts.

Whats goin on?

These questions are my response to draikfire's questions. Maybe this will clear some things up!

Okay, so Real Sakura was captured by Fei wang Reed, Cloned, and then her clone lost its memories and went with the clone syaoran to retrieve them. After Clone Syaoran loses his part of the shared soul from Real Syaoran, Clone Sakura retrieves the memory which alerts her that she is not Real Sakura but actually a clone. In the infinity arc, to save Real Syaoran, Sakura sacrifices herself in his place but at the same time wishes to be sent to the dream world. Well, Clone Sakura's body goes to ashura's place but her soul makes it to the dream world. Real Syaoran, along with the gang transports to Ashura's place and saves clone sakura's body which is alive but soulless. Then they go to nihon japan and meet seishiro who somehow knows Real Syaoran's father Syaoran from CCS and uses the magic of the feather from the Oni world (what was it called again?) to make Clone Sakura's soul's dream a reality. Clone Syaoran was in that world so now both are coporeal in Nihon Japan. Clone Sakura's soul is then killed in the cross fire of Clone Syaoran and Real Syaoran's blade's. As she disappears in Clone Syaoran's arms it would seem that a conscience awakened inside of him (or something) because of events I will also address later.

Now, Kyle comes and kidnaps the Clone Sakura's still living body and takes her to Fei Wang Reed where it seems the Real Sakura's body has disappeared for reasons unknown and only Real sakura's soul exists. So what do we have left of Sakura? We have the Real sakura that Real Syaoran knew who is stuck at the moment of her death in a time loop, we have the older one (Real Syaorans mother, sakura from ccs), we have Clone Sakura's body now at Fei wang's place, and we have Real Sakura's soul Which has been there for a while now.

Still with me? Okay, so meanwhile, Clone syaoran arrives in recent chapters and "attacks" Fai and Kurogane with the powers that Fei wang reed praises are stronger than even himself (hmmm, so technically Clone Syaoran could kill him....) and the attack injures them but also conveniently knocks down Fei wang's entire army in the process. so then Clone syaoran whispers something to Real syaoran (Probably something to the effect of "Im actually a good guy, Im going to stab my foot, youre going to shriek in pain, act dead, and stab Fei Wang reed when I drag you towards him.) and stabs his sword into his own foot. Clone Syaoran then follows through with his plan (with Real syaoran clearly aware) and then protects Real Syaoran from being stabbed. Is the clone dead now? I doubt it.

But why is the world crumbling? The decay of the world that has insued because of the corrupted timeline is probably taking its toll. Remember? People were melting! Okay so any way Clone Syaoran is using Fai's magic to open the entrance to the separate dimension where Fei Wang reed is, so that the group may go and Rescue Real sakura's soul and Clone Sakura's body. this act of opening the rift between dimensions could also be a part of the world crumbling, but I have a feeling we havent seen the end of clow country. my guess is that it is the world that Yuko claimed she and Clow reed had created and I think they can repair it. (it is called clow country after all) :)

So what happens next now that you sorta understand whats going on?I'll leave that for you to discuss!

a. who will win? Fei wang or kurgy?

c. C! sakura's soul exists, R!Sakura's body exists, and now the first, young R! Sakura's body and soul exist suspended in this cut of dimension of time.
d. Who do you think Fei wang wants to bring back to life?
e. If that is his only wish, why then does he need the knowlege of other dimensions?
f. Fai lost the last of his flowright to get kurgy a new arm. So of course hes no match for syaoran. How do you think he is going to get his eye back from syaoran?
g. anything else you'd like to add? in holic for example, it speaks of the butterfly's dream? is Yuko the butterfly or is watanuki?

Tsubasa OADs Anticipated for New Year

Anticipation for the new Tsubasa OADs Mount!

(*May Contain spoilers)

We watched in awe at the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008 as Tokyo Revelations by Production I.G was created. Covering the Tokyo arc, "Revelations" was by no means a misnomer. These three OADs (original anime dvds), including "the Magician's Message" (November 16, 2007), "The Boy's Right Eye"(January 17, 2008) and "The Dream that the Princess Envisioned"(March 17, 2008), were truly stunning. The graphics, the art, and the storyline, all held true to chapters 107-135 of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, and contained the pure essense of CLAMP.

The two seasons of Tsubasa Chronicle were enjoyable, and although some Tsubasa fans may have been disappointed in the number of filler episodes, many were still more crestfallen that a third season had not been planned. Tokyo Revelations was just the kind of reality that otakus around the world had dreamed of.

At the conclusion of "The Dream that the Princess had Envisioned", the same feeling of unrest settled among Tsubasa fans. As of right now, Japan has published books 1-24 of Tsubasa and, though it would seem the series is coming to a close, there are still many unanswered questions. Even Amaterasu, Tomoyo's older sister, said during the Nihon/Nippon country arc: "The journey is far from being over." As that journey has continued, we anticipated Tokyo Revelations, three impressive OADs that were well worth the wait. In fact, we loved the OAD's so much we couldn't help increasing our demand for more.

Tsubasa fans, the suspence is over! After reading manga online and watching as R!Syaoran, Yuui, and Kurogane confront the past, there is now news that another OAD, containing 2 parts, is in the process of being made.

It has been announced now that the new Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle OADs will be available separately with the completion of books 26 and 27, which will be released in Japan on the 17th of March and April in the upoming 2009 year. These 2 DVD's are titled Tsubasa Shunraiki, meaning "Spring Thunder". Nanase Okawa of the CLAMP team is the screen writer of this project, so of course these DVDs look promising.

Tsubasa Shunraiki is actually part of a joint Tsubasa/XXX Holic bundle project, meaning that there will be OAD's for the later chapters of XXX Holic being made for next year as well. These will be titled XXX Holic Shunmuki (Spring Exposure), and will be released with the publication of books 14 and 15 of the XXX Holic manga series.

The Tsubasa Shunraiki OADs attract the interest of viewers for several reasons, some of which include: the beauty of viewing the characters in full color moving across a screen, the heart wrenching, twisted, storyline, the inspired original music by Yuki Kajiuri, the talented voice of Maya Sakamoto in the beginning theme song "Sonic Boom", and the 3D visual effects directed by Makoto Endou.

*According to IMDB, the Japanese cast list is as follows--

Miyu Irino (Syaoran), Yui Makino (Sakura), Tetsu Inada (Kurogane), Daisuke Namikawa (Fai), and Mika Kikuchi (Mokona).

*Cast list may be incomplete.

Do the above names look familiar? These voice actors also played their respective parts in Tokyo Revelations and the animated series that ran for two seasons.

Although these OADs appear to be the sequel to the Tokyo arc, they happen to skip over the Celes and Infinity arcs, jumping right into Kurogane's Japan (the Nihon/Nippon arc). As you may recall, the Infinity arc concerned the live chess game in which the tension between C!Sakura and R! Syaoran continued to grow. The epic Celes arc featured the desperate attempt to rescue C!Sakura's body and face off against Ashura. The Nihon/Nippon arc covers chapters 169 (The Witches Gift)- 180 (Where the Princess Lies) of the Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle manga.

Both sagas previous to this one were essentially important to the plot, so why move past them? No matter how it is debated, this question continues to be a target of great speculation.
