A Reason

Kita walked the halls of Las Noches still in search of the arrancar her master sent her out looking for. Even though he dismissed her from it she felt a certain obligation in finding out who this arrancar was and what he wanted. While behind Kita only a few paces followed Orihime. Kita would look back at her every few minutes to make sure she was not lagging too far behind. There she followed, her arms crossed in front of her each hand holding the other, her head hung as she watched the floor past under them.

“What a pain!” Kita spoke to herself with her last peek back at Orihime.

Orihime lifted her head and looked to Kita, “What happen to you? You use to be so nice.”

Kita stopped in her footsteps with Orihime’s question; she did not turn around but looked at her over her shoulder from the corner of her eye. “Nothing has happened to me.”

“That’s not true,” Orihime protested as she stopped behind her, “You use to speak nicely to me and smile. Now all you do is give me dagger eyes and snap at me.”

Kita turned quickly placing the flat of her hand to Orihimes upper chest, shoving her hard against the wall.

Orihime winced, crying out, “OW! Kita that hurt!” She went to raise her hand to touch the back of her head as Kita knocked her hand away.

“You're weak and a baby. Your powers may be unique, but you lack the will to stand up to an enemy. Your talk and trying to reach out to people with your heartfelt emotions will be the death of you.” as Kita turned from her, she pushed her hand against Orihime again causing her bump into the wall once more. “Until you get a backbone and stand up to the ones that want to hurt you. I will see you as nothing more than a weakling.”

Orihime came off the wall quickly as Kita stepped away from her, “Like you?! You want me to kill and walk away without a second thought like a robot?! Like – Like something without a heart?! Why do you hate me so much?! What did I do to you?!”

Kita stopped again and turned looking at Orihime, “No Hime, not like me. I still know who and what I am. I can not kill to just kill, but I will not allow others to walk on me and treat me like something I am not.” Kita turned away from Orihime once more walking away as her words trailed behind her, “and I don't hate you. I despise you because your human… something, I can never be.”

Orihime stood there listening to Kita at her last statement she lowered her head and whispered, “I am sorry Kita.”

Breaking Orihime’s moment as Kita walked away she called out the her, “Stop standing there, Hime and come on! I have things to do!”
