Yesterday, numerous websites, including ANN, have posted up the international English language trailer for Toei Animation's 3D animated movie Space Pirate Captain Harlock, the latest animated version of Leiji Matsumoto's Captain Harlock mythos, and this anime will establish the fourth Toei-created anime contintuity for Harlock; the first was in 1978's Space Pirate Captain Harlock T.V. series, the 2nd shown in 1978's Galaxy Express 999 T.V. series and Galaxy Express 999: Eternal Fantasy, the third in 1979's Galaxy Express 999 and its sequel Adieu Galaxy Express 999, and the fourth shown in Arcadia of My Youth and its sequel Arcadia of My Youth: Endless Orbit SSX. Though orginally planned for 2012, Toei confirmed Fall 2013 for its release. Here's hoping this film gets shown officially in theaters outside Japan as well as in 2014 anime conventions, and although this is movie's not a Matsumoto piece, I say Toei picked a good time for its release, given that this year is the 60th anniversary of both Captain Harlock's debut and the launch of Leiji Matsumoto's visual career.
Anyway, here's the trailer. Enjoy!
