Wrote this the other day when I realized that I hadn't written any Haruka and Near scenes.
Fifteen year old Haruka lay on her tummy across from Near, playing with his robots.
"Which button is it that makes his head pop off?" she asked the six year old.
"The middle one."
Haruka pushed the button. Instead of shooting up, the head shot backwards, hitting her in the nose. "Ow!!"
"Haruka?" Near asked.
"Mm?" she said, clutching her nose.
"Why is the sky blue?"
Haruka looked at him, debating whether to give him the real answer or something like "God made it that way." Well, this was Near. "Sunlight reflects off the water molecules in the sky and blue is the prominent color."
"Why is grass green?"
"The chlorophyll in it gives it a green color."
"Why do we only see stars at night?"
"The sun overpowers their light in the daytime but when it sets, the darkness allows us to see the stars' light."
Near was quiet for a few minutes and Haruka thought she was in the clear.
"...Haruka?"
She sighed. "Yes, Near?"
"Where do babies come from?"
I do not claim that the answers to any of Near's questions are correct XDD I had so much fun writing this.
