I just thought this would be funny...and illustrative of a point, which is in the title! :D
I tried my best to make it look like me face and build wise...not realistically, but to where you get the jist of it.
I have a petite build and my facial features are relatively small, too. I'm also flat chested which adds to the petite-ness...so I basically look like a little girl. ANYWAYYYY
I did this based on what I really look like and what kinds of clothes I wear, the first, and what people at my school would tell me I should wear (Oh, you'd look so pretty wearing _____). The last is just what kinds of clothes I really like and want...I'll get to that at the end! XD
Firstly, the reason for the title.
People told me wear a V-neck.
If you have a flat-chest do not wear a v-neck because it just shows off your flat-chest-ness. V-necks are for women with good sized breasts. The girls as my school who had larger chests suggested this of me....O.o; I don't know if they didn't notice that I don't have the same body as them.
People told me to wear Uggs (sorry I drew them so poorly).
Obviously it would look bad with this outfit, but it shortens my shin length and makes my legs look stumpy.
People told me to go sleeveless.
Not really a problem, actually, I just don't like sleeveless clothing...XD
People told me to wear shorts/jeans.
Also not a problem...but jeans and shorts are just uncomfortable to me. Shorts aren't too bad, but jeans are like sandpaper to me...;3;
People told me to grow out my hair until its long.
I didn't realize this problem until I actually did! XD I didn't do it on purpose, I just didn't feel like getting a hair appointment. My hair is only down to my shoulders, but apparently it makes me look like I'm engulfed in hair.
I didn't know what that meant, so I looked it up. Apparently people with smaller features shouldn't get long hair, and on top of that if you are short, like I am, it makes you look shorter. So it makes sense that I look like I'm covered in hair! XD
I hope I did a good job in illustrating the hair, thing...I don't really know how to draw it if I don't really know how that looks...I mean, I can look in the mirror, but I usually look at my face rather than my overall look...O.o;
Secondly!
The clothing that I usually wear compliments my build, coincidentally! :D I just liked that kind of clothing, didn't know that it worked fashionably.
That sort of open jacket makes my chest look less flat. It's a short jacket with skinny jeans which makes my legs seem longer. On top of that I wear high heel booties which makes me appear taller.
I like to keep my hair short which compliments my features and because of the above explanation of hair, I don't look like I'm engulfed in hair.
I'm going to a hair cut soon, though! 
I plan on getting a slightly different kind of short hair style that compliments my personality...XD I feel like the first pic doesn't really work with my personality. It looks like a strong confident, yet serious young woman instead of the shy gentle type...'orz
And, yes, my legs have hardly any curves! :D This is due to zero exercise! :D

I hope in some way I helped you guys with some fashion tips for petite people like me! :D
In conclusion, where what you think you should wear, not what others think you should wear (unless they actually know what they're talking about).
