YAY~! FINALLY!
It was craptastic!
I seriously loved that series to death (hoho), but right after the Undertaker arc it just fell flat. It was all chocked up with mystery at the beginning and then it told you everything really quickly and was formulaic at the end....or just after that arc.
I do not recommend this manga!
Go read you some Himitsu or something that is trustworthy! Actually, I'm pretty sure Himitsu Top Secret is still going...
I need to read some manga because when it comes to paneling on Idolling I am retarded.
Bokurano's some good stuff.
Blue Heaven is pretty nice, even though it's short.
So many alternatives to Deadman Wonderland. Don't get into it just because there is an anime of it.
Also don't get into it just because it's shocking with the violence and crazy serial killer characters 'cause in the end everyone's quite normal except for the bad guys. Therefore it's not fun anymore.
Actually, don't even watch the anime.
It's surprising how 180 I've turned on this manga. I really really loved it, it was my favourite manga, and then it just kept falling further and further...
The thing that bothers me about Deadman Wonderland is that you would think it would be focusing on the psychological mysteries of a serial killer or just make it so we actually care about the story and understand what these blood powers are, but they never really tell you and it's all very very shallow.
What pissed me off the most was that there was a point where each chapter was basically the same. They fight some impossibly powerful bad guys, almost die, then in the end they come back even stronger. This is very common in shounen, yes, but it just doesn't fit at all with the first part of the series.
The first part of the series it seemed definitely survival of the fittest or something. Barbaric and scary. That went away after the Undertakers Arc, I assume because they were trying to be like 'and everyone was much powerful after that'...which is pretteh stupid. How come Ganta is so strong?! Makes no sense...
I'm comparing it to a lot of seinen, which I probably shouldn't...it's barely seinen...'orz
But if you're interested, like I was at the age of 14 or so, in violence and mature manga....
READ BOKURANO! It's really powerful and haunting.
It feels like your typical shounen manga at first and you might be like me and already picking out who's the main character, the main girl, the best friend, the annoying guy, etc. But then you realize it's not that type of manga! XD
Blue Heaven is also very violent if you're looking for violence.
I really like this mangaka's work. The stories usually deal with serial killers or murderers but in more thoughtful way. Blue Heaven is one of his longer ones that I just found to be really interesting with the questions it presents. The style is quite rough, though. It might not appeal to everyone (though I don't really mind, as long as the art is good)
If you're looking for violence and good art read Berserk...but then again, I don't entirely recommend it because I think it might be offensive to some.
Himitsu Top Secret is also quite violent, but more in a solve the mystery kind of thing...sorta...It's not action-y like the others. Bokurano's not really that violent as in blood and gore, but it's mature.
Ikigami is quite good too
The art is really nice and it's very clean like Deadman Wonderland. Though...hrmm....
I'm trying to find the perfect alternative to Deadman Wonderland but it's really hard...'orz
Just look at any seinen manga! XD Most of the time they have violence like Deadman Wonderland.
For me, I just like reading books and manga where they focus on things that are difficult to agree with, controversial themes. I really like stories where they humanize a serial killer or show understanding for them. Not that I think they deserve it, but it's just interesting. I'd like my empathy skills ta be top tier! >:D
I should probably stop talking now....
ADIOSSS!
