Part 11: Exhaust Removal

I have started the installation of the new complete exhaust system finally after having the parts sitting around for a month or so. I started with mounting the new headers to replace the rusted manifolds. The driver side header went on without to much trouble. Was a little difficult trying to hold everyone think in place with one hand while trying to insert the bolts to secure it. Getting to the passenger side is where the problems started.

Three of the mounting holes did not quite line up. So I borrowed my neighbor's air powered dremel to widen the holes for the bolts to line up. That took some time but was finally able to get all the header bolts in a tightened. With that complete 1/3 of the exhaust system was installed.

Update: As of today the 1st of June, The catalytic converter is install complete and now just working on trying to get the dual exhaust pipes to line up.

Problems were also encountered while trying to install the converters. Turns out the driver side pipe was too long to also allow for the passenger to mount. So I had to use a reciprocating saw to cut the pipe off. Then mount both sides back up and find out how much had to be cut off to be align properly. After that was cut and slightly larger connector pipe was slide over the cut point and the converter was bolted into place.
