What i did for work experience

For my work experience I went to a small shop called Woodbridge Violins that make and repair violins
Between 22nd to the 27th March I broke two violins, clocked up one hundred and eleven miles driving, played a £6000 violin, was looked after by three men and one lady, made around sixty cups of coffee and fifteen cups of tea, cleaned seventy eight violins, got asked to look after, and got cried at by one baby called Elijha and came out of it all with a hand made violin clock and a fully serviced violin.

It was really great to have a week off school to laze around drinking coffee, listening to radio 2 and just absorbing the calm, jolly atmosphere of a traditional, local violin shop.
I chose to take work experience there because I play violin and I know a few older people who took their work experience there and really enjoyed it.
The highlight of my week would either be playing a very expensive violin that felt absolutely fantastic, or servicing my violin, which involved restringing it, and giving it a jolly good clean, which it defiantly needed, and I certainly didn’t mind the hour long lunch breaks.

Though, it did get rather boring the day when I had to dust down every single violin on display in the shop, which was quite mundane.

On one of the days I had to post a package at the post office, which was an experience in its self! Woodbridge post office (which is hidden away in the hope that young work experience lads have to ask about 47 passers by where it is) is crammed full of very, very old people, who move along the queue at 3 meters an hour.

During my week, coffee making was one of my less extraordinary tasks. Russlle, the owner of the shop, rated my first cup of coffee with 8.7! This exceptional grade inspired me and filled my heart with enthusiasm, and seeds of success had been sewn. All I needed was the water of wisdom and the fertilizer of self-confidence to germinate these seeds, and for them to later grow and blossom into my application to the world authority of baristas. That was my dream. For the remainder of the week I saw it my purpose to create the perfect cup of coffee. I retreated back that evening to my laboratory and began the experiments. It started just a hobby, a little task to keeps me entertained. But it soon became much more than that. So much more than a side project. Before long I found my self sneaking into coffee shops of all kinds, the huge chain cafés, to the smaller, quainter shops and tea rooms, stealing their coffee, and analysing. By Thursday night, it was complete. For this glorious cup of delight I had deprived myself of sleep of rest. I had worked hard for nearly 4 days, I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded human moderation, but now it was complete. It sat before me, shining a brilliant brown, the way all coffee should, and must. The following day I handed the accomplishment of my toils to the owner of the shop and visions of me, seated with the world authority of baristas blasted through my head, I may have squeaked a little with excitement. Russlle gave it a 9.3! I was well chuffed!  I wasn’t quite as good with the tea though.

Many things were learned that week: it takes a long time to make a violin, Woodbridge is a little bit scary, you can get a really cheep meal from the Chinese at the end of town at lunch time (5 dishes for £5 between 12:00 and 2:00), babies only really like their mum and no one else, and I should move into the world of coffee making.
This is my speech that im giving in english about work experience. i hope our teacher is up for a laugh...
