Welcome to my little corner. I'm new to the worlds, so please bear with me! Still trying to find people and organize things. Glad to greet long known friends and new ones!

Thanks Giving?

I've been pre paring 8 mos for thanksgiving week--I always looked forward to spending time with many family members, playing Pinochle, and staying an extra week with my dad. He was my buddy- we even had the same face. Well, I am having a hard time since we lost him 2 years ago, expecially holidays. My sister said lets take a trip and see a show. Well, 12-14 hr a day, until I caught sometimething was tough but I did it, until, lets just say thurs- Friday and Saturday were a complete crash. Today I scrambled to pack (had everything from when I went to that beautiful wedding), but again more things kept breaking til I stod in the kitchen and screamed. For the past 10 nights, the furnace was broken, I was trying to keep the parrots unfrozen with quilts and things. The furnace (and oven ) are fixed, but my house is still in the 60's! I can describe what else popped up in the cold, but one night I was shivering under the blankets (Thank God I knit, and kept a big blanket, the rest I gave away). It's gotten to the point that every Monday I get asked what else broke during the weekend. I don't watch the news-- I use the computer because I don't want to hear the ringing bels, beeps, alarms for breaking news, cuz recently that's what my house has been sounding like! I don;t know, we have to work a weekend each year, next year I just might tell them Thanksgiving---its just one more day to me-- a wonderful part of my life that is not there anymore, sorry but just having a dog of a time accepting the transition. So a little Inuyasha sits on my work monitor , and Ed dances underneath until I get back. So far aanime and knitting and good friends have been something that has helped a lot. I guess tonight it will be Ghost in the Shell-- the temp is starting to fall (and will rise again in a few days, but this has been a long spell without heat! Feel like a caveman! Now there's an idea to sketch.

Hope that the warmth of friends , family, or doing a good deed, give you the glow of a thankful day. PPanda, Kitsune, Caesar, you have all been a gift! Candle's in the window for you all!

It's an Interesting World

We went to wish well a family friend who was married--- we got to go to san Franfrisco, which I love. The leaves were all dressed up in colors for the wedding. Our friend is from an African nation, and the reception was traditional for her country. So joyous. As the new couple entered, some men were dressed in colorful robes, the music began, and the energy was high! The new people was preceded by people waving roses. The most wonderful part was the palpable love people had for the new couple, and for each other, with embraces, and patient explanations to those not familiar with all the traditions. A wonderful ime had by all. Unfortunately, the event came to a close, but not in my memory.

So back home to So Cal---weather is getthing a little cooler, and fixing things, and scrubbing, cleaning etc. I have finally purchased the cotton yarn for a sweater that is styled after a short kimono. I hope that it turns out well. Back to the rock pile tomorrow---a gentle good night to good friend. My mission this weekend: to hunt more anime! The colors and art, music help to produce a new world. I'm open t o any suggestions folks have.

Messages from Anime

I love history because when I wonder how things evolved the way they did, history gives me leads. So does art, which seems to reflect life in all its facets more and more. Anime I watched in the 90/s seemed to be mostly of the morality tales -- will good triumph over evil. Don;t get me wroing, I still love the stories, and character, the hand drawn cels, and felt them to be remarkable and beutiful. And the story lines and charactores, and especially the music ( oh yes I am a big Yoko Kanno fan) all together is stil a wonderful treat that can send me to a different place. The more I watch even the same anime, like Fullmetal and Chost in the Shell, the greater influences I see- including asking question of greed, human nature, but not clealy stating a right or wrong, but more commenting o how things can change, and that things are complex and not always what they first appear. A new generation of though. Satoshi Kon shows some unique insights into human behaviour, and is a wonderful satirist. I love Paranoia Agent. I have been saving up Paprika as a treat or movie day. Hello Cosmic Sailor- I really appreciated your thoughts, ans as ever Kitsune Suke, hello and "glomp"/ Hello to Panda, I have good thoughts to send your way. This has always been a great community, and hope we have more talking and sharing== perhaps the best part of being a human.

Will be taking a 3 day trip for pleasure this weekend, first in a long time this year. Some interesting questions about how did things go so fast like a ferris wheel on super speed. Looking forward t o a day to sketch and contemplate. Happy weekend to all friends.

Hah-Choo

Well, the weather goes ffrom 90's to 60's==it was ineveitable. Ache, sneese, tried like I ws 150 yrs old, and Had to stay home Frday. However, its Sunday, and just hard to sit up---tomorrow ought to be a blast. Will have to get a picture of the persimmon tree- busting with persimmons, slowly turning orange. The rabbits, and birds have startled sampling, but thats why I grouw them. Well, upstairs I trek, and I guess I will watch my DVD. Apparently saw 2 new episodes (I think they were new) of Full Metal Alchemist, another favorite. The story is quite complex, and n many ways reflects modent times. Any thoughts as to some of the hints for modern man? Right now my brian 's a bit tired, so an early good night.

Woosh!

Time is rushing by so fast! I've been watching Trinity Blood disks. I am always fascinated by how people chose the costumes and colours fir anime abd manga. U've got the urge to sketch, but work is hectic, and every weekend it seems that some other big thing breaks! The oven and bathtub this time! I think if I were to sketch myself, I would have to look more like Mario bros, with plunger and toolbox! (I really do have 2 tool boxes at my house). My hair is no longer short and spiky, but actually has grown pretty long (no time for a hair cut). Well, guess I'll have to first click my choes and say I wish everything was all fixed,,,,, I did see a really odd mix of live action and comic book-- anyone seen Tank Girl? Intriguing life in the future where the "bad guys: are power abd water barons! Interesting mix if you can see it. Any movies that you all have seen and would like to share? For anime, try and get Cowboy Bebop The Movie.... well drawn, yet true to to the series. Ah, I really like yoko kanno's music. If you drop by here, please just leave a comment to say hi.
