Twitchy
She stood rooted in place, staring at the lemur-thing in front of her. It just spoke. To her. In English. And she understood it. Since when does this happen outside of dreams? Quickly, she hit herself on the forehead several times, stopping when she came to the realization that it wasn't a dream. (Plus her head was starting to throb painfully.)
The orange creature chuckled at her and turned back towards her. He crouched down to get to her eye level and placed one of his long fingers on her forehead, making the throbbing lessen considerably. Elizabeth's eyes widened to the the size of saucers. "How..."
"Hush, small one. You will find out many things if you follow what I spoke of. Now go... but not too quickly. you must wait a small while to ensure the Oil Horse does not return for you. I will keep watch over you and your companion as you travel." He turned to leave again, but stopped at the touch of a small hand at the small of his back.
Smiling at the child's curiosity, he looked at her again, his eyes shining even more now. "Yes, little one?", he asked gently. Elizabeth's face became tinged in pink and she looks away and softly asks, "Can I... touch your tail? I've never seen one such as yours..."
Cah Pu Kae Kah Cliffs
The colorful creature before her observed her motions, knowing that she meant no harm in the first place. It wanted to see what her intentions were and so being this close it could feel her energy. It could look deep into her eyes to see her soul and the depths that were there. These tall lemur like creatures were some of the locals and this one just so happened to be a shaman. It had felt the presence of the Oil Horse (as some call them) and made its way in the night to the young couple that had recently been stranded on the island.
It spoke to Liz with a low voice “To be on the beach at night is dangerous young one. You must move to safer grounds. Go, in mornings light, to the cliffs of Cah Pu Kae Kah.” The large lemur takes his decorated staff and points in the direction inward toward the islands interior. He looks back to her “When you arrive, speak with Kandai and she will guide you from there.” The creature gives a slight bow of the head and turns to leave, walking away ever so slowly, giving the girl time if she wished to ask anything else.
Shiny
"W-wait!", Elizabeth shouted in a soft voice. She didn't want the scary monster to come back out at her. She shuddered thinking of what could have happened if the lemur-like.. thing hadn't saved her. She stared at it's back, wordlessly imploring it to come back. She was kind of scared still and Night seemed to be a bit useless when tired.
This caused her to smile some before being jolted back to reality as she caught a movement out of the corner of her eye, turning to have the creature mere inches from her face, looking at her like a curious kitten. He fear was momentarily forgotten as she took in the sight of the creature.
It's eyes were big orbs of glowing, dark orange. It was covered head to toe -- and tail -- in fur. Soft, fluffy fur that seemed to ripple between different hues of red, orange, and yellow with each movement it made. The beads it had in its fur were captivating; each one a different color, shape, and size.
She slowly lifted her hands in front of her, palms up, to show she had no weapons or any intent on causing harm. She stood there waiting, letting it study her just as much as she had studied it. She really wanted to poke one of its ears but waited, making sure it wouldn't freak out on her and attack.
Entranced
Night seemed to be in some kind of trance. His sleep was unnatural and he lay motionless on the ground. At this point his breathing couldn’t even be seen nor heard.
The singing grew to a higher pitch, the creatures eyes started to glow as Liz’s pace drew her closer to it. She felt as if she couldn’t stop herself and her calls for Night were becoming useless. The smell of cookies grew stronger, wafting through the air and Elizabeth licked her lips.
A loud screech sounded that startled the pink creature calling to the young girl. It stood on its hind legs and it kicked into the air with frustration. Liz snapped out it and stood still, looking about as if lost. She shook her head and stared at the strange creature again, seeing for real this time. Its hideousness showing through its disguise of black oozing skin covered in vegetation from the sea bed. Yet another screech was heard to the right of Elizabeth, off where the tree line was dark. The strange black equine like creature threw its hooves into the air once more before kicking sand and galloping off in the opposite direction.
A large lemur like being came from the tree line in Elizabeth’s direction. It was shades of pinks into oranges and then yellows. Its ears stood tall and it was covered in what looked like Native American talismans. Elizabeth’s eyes widened at the sight of such a strange fluffy looking creature. She bounced with joy wanting to hug it but she thought twice about that. She wondered if this creature was dangerous as well.
The creature stopped within 20 feet of her, put a long finger to its lips and made the motion of silence. It stared at her for another moment, its large burnt orange eyes reflecting the moonlight and then it turned to walk away.
Night groaned and turned onto his side, facing in towards where they had been sleeping. He ran a thick hand through his midnight locks and nestled into as if he were just getting comfortable.
Poke
Growing more and more curious, Elizabeth started to slow down her incessant shaking of Night. The smell of chocolate was starting to make her drool. It was as if the most decadent tasting chocolate had been sprayed into the air.
Finally she stood up but stayed next to Night. Looked down as his sleeping face, noting how peaceful he looked. It made her smile until she remembered why she was standing in the first place. Elizabeth rubbed her eyes before looking back at the odd creature that was now a mere 30 feet away.
She tilted her head to the side as a new scent wafted past her. It was the smell of fresh baked cookies. That just made her drool even more as she made a face, trying to concentrate on figuring out what the thing was.
She could see more of it now. There were swirly shapes all over it's body and it was walking on what looked like 4 legs. There was definitely a lot of hair. She wanted to play with it. It looked so soft and silky. This made her slowly walk towards it with her left hand lifted out towards it. She could tell something wasn't right, though. Becoming a bit worried she called out to Night even more now, hoping to get him out the sleep that seemed to be deeper than the ocean they had escaped from.
