Nums

Lizzy grinned as she and Night began walking again. Meeko was staring up at her rom his spot in her hands, looking as if he wanted something. She giggled and lifted him up onto her shoulder then held him there until he gained some balance. She noticed Night looking down at her as she did so. Smiling, she looked at him then back at the small lizard, making sure he was settled.

Meeko was nuzzling the side of her neck, looking like he was right at home. He sniffed her hair for a few moments before finally looking about to survey his surroundings. He chirped a few times in excitement when a large butterfly fluttered past. This time Night chuckled in amusement watching the little guy wiggle in excitement on his new found perch.

"So..." Lizzy said after about ten minutes of silent walking; Meeko being the only one to make any sound. "What should we look for to eat? Some of these fruits look... a little scary to say the least."

Night was looking around, already considering the exact thing she has spoken. He saw a bunch of different things, but he thought many of them looked too dangerous to attempt to eat. Lizzy noticed the look on his face and laughed. "You know... All of these fruit look scary, but I'm still curious to try one. I mean.. We just got Meeko out of one of the scarier ones." She walked over to the nearest tree and plucked a small white apple shaped fruit from the ground and walked back over to Night.

She raised an eyebrow when Meeko leaned forward to sniff it and chirped happily. Taking this as confirmation, she patted the little guy on the head and took a huge bite. She grinned at the look on Night's face, but she just started walking again while munching on the fruit, lifting her hand to let Meeko share a few nibbles here and there.

Moving On

Jumping up and down Lizzy broke out into happy laughter. "Meeko! We can call him Meeko!" Night laughed thunderously as he always did, the deep bases booming from his hearty chest. The small creature was vibrated and looked a bit startled at first but after a moment it made small chirping sounds that almost resembled laughter.

Elizabeth looked so excited and Night wished for her to be happy... he knew that the departure of the other two had made her sad and against his normal gut feelings he pushed them aside agreeing to let her keep it. Night hoped to the Sea Gods that this thing would recognize her as its.. mother? and that, as most other circumstances are when you raise something from a child, it would grow to love and protect her.

He felt a bit of a twist in his decision but he knew things here were not like he has known the world. In fact, everything he thought he knew had been turned upside down. He had to let everything go and try his damnest to trust his surroundings. This was a hard feat for Night, considering he'd gone his whole life trusting with his eyes and measuring with his hands. Now, he had to trust with his heart and leave his mind wide open to possibility..which scared the hell out of him.

He watched Lizzys bright amber eyes glow with delight and he smiled. "Come on lil one. We best be off. We've wasted far too much time as it is." He put a hand on her back and guided her back to get their things. "We shall find food as we go. I know there may be more interesting foods along the path..."

Tiny Guy

Elizabeth was trying her hardest not to squeal in delight. This little creature they had stumbled upon was horribly cute. Odd it may be, but that made it a little more for the better. The little guy kept looking around at everything it could.

She reached over towards Night and stroked the middle of its head since that was the only part she could rub without hitting one of his spikes. It made an adorable little squeaking sound then licked at Night's thumb a few times. Its tongue was like a snake's, but looked rough like a cat's.

Lizzy giggled and looked up at Night who was staring warily at the thing. She couldn't really blame him much since it had suddenly popped out at him like that. Looking at it closely, she could tell that it was just a baby as it had probably hatched from the coconut-like fruit Night had found. Heck... it couldn't even fly yet. she noticed it kept wiggling its wings while it jostled around on its four little legs.

"Sooooo....", Lizzy said slowly as she rocked back and forth on her heels "Can we keeeeeep him?"

She made a hopeful face towards Night, a grin slowly working its way onto her face. Night sighed as he looked down at the little reptile. Lizzy's face started to fall until she heard Night chuckle and say, "You'll have to find a name for him fist, wee one."

Jumping up and down Lizzy broke out into happy laughter. "Meeko! We can call him Meeko!"

Devious Surroundings

On their expedition to find food Night had encountered a very exotic looking fruit tree. Knowing how much Lizzy likes fruit he decided it would be pleasurable to attain some and possibly take the time later to hunt... something. He wanted to actually eat some kind of meat, he just had no flipping idea what would be right to eat! He wouldn't want someone coming after his dog or cat, or some kind of pet like creature and eating it. He wasn't even sure if there were that many creatures in this area. He didn’t even know what WAS edible or not...

Night rammed the tree with his shoulder, causing the strange color fruits to fall. He picked one up and realized they were a lot like coconuts, yet shades of purple and blue. He wondered what they were like inside. There were a lot of things similar to the world he knew, but they all appeared differently, different skins or strange colors.

Night looked around for something to crack it on, Lizzy watching him from a distance as she looked for food herself. Night raised the coconut-thing above his head and brought it down upon the rock with a loud crack. It split open in-between his hands and pink liquid spilled out. He made a face at the sticky sweet smell and tilted his head when he realized there was a creature in the middle. He dropped what he thought was a fruit and took a few steps back in disbelief.

Lizzy dropped the flowers in her hands and ran over. "What?? What is it?" Night looked at her and then back at the critter. It was black and red stripped, curled up in a fetal position inside the shell. Lizzy crept closer to it to investigate. Night wanted to grab her and keep her from the thing but he felt as though she was the one who would know best, just as the other situations.

The little thing squirmed and made a small cry. Lizzy sat on her knees in front of it and smiled. She stuck her hand out to it and as it barely opened its eyes it took hold of her finger with its tiny claws. It didn't seem to be hurting her so Night didn't feel as uneasy. As soon as it made a wrong move he would be ready to stomp it into the ground.

The creature rolled out of the shell and onto its little four legs. Night wasn't sure what the hell it was but he knew it looked dangerous. Lizzy got down low and let it walk up to her face. It tilted its spiky little head and blinked its 4 eyes. It sniffed the air she was exhaling and then licked her nose. Lizzy giggled and put her hands out to scoop it up.

Night was still unsure but it seemed to be playful with her and so he let it go for now. He was worried how large that thing was going to get and how he could get that smell off of his hands. He tried wiping them off on a large leaf, which removed all of the residue but he could still smell what was that pink liquid on him.

The little creature caught wind of the smell after a few moments. It tried to flap its little wings to fly but was still growing accustomed to its own body. It squirmed in Lizzy’s arms until she set it down. The spiky thing trotted clumsily towards Night and looked up at him. It reared up on its hind legs, not even reaching Nights knee cap and made an unearthly whimpering noise. Night was slightly taken aback by the sound but he put his hands down for it. The creature crawled into Nights hands and licked him.

Night felt odd but had a feeling that this creature wasn't going to leave them alone, even if he wanted it too. He looked at Lizzy with an odd expression and then burst into laughter. It startled the creature but then it made a noise that sounded like it was mimicking Nights laugh in its own tongues. It was almost as if it was speaking in more than one voice at a time. Lizzy joined in the laugher and stood next to Night, petting the little things head.

"What should we name him?" Lizzy asked. Night shrugged. "Why don't you name him Elizabeth. Assuming tis a boy... I'm not even sure what it tis or why... I doona have a clue" He laughed again.

The Milky Way

Elizabeth stretched beside Night and slowly eased her eyes open. They were still heavy with sleep, but she knew that she needed to get up. She and Night needed to start the last part of their journey to the cliffs soon.

She yawned and scooted closer to Night to keep from getting cold. Night looked at her smiling and said, "Well mornin' little one. Did ye sleep well?"

She stayed close to him for a moment, breathing in the smell of him before she made herself sit up and stretch once more. The cave smelled of slightly damp earth, which comforted her in a way. She looked around, wondering what the cave would look like now that it was daylight.

Gasping in delight, Elizabeth almost hurt her neck as she twisted back and forth trying to look all about. There were small crystals clinging to the ceiling of the cave, reflecting the light that was now pouring in through the cave's mouth.

It was alight with swirls of color that formed into pictures that had an almost life-like feel; as if you could reach up and touch one of them.

After a few moments, she looked at Night, her face lit up in excitement. He beamed at her and laughed. "I didn't want to tell ye about it. Thought ye might like to see it for yourself."

Elizabeth smiled even more at him. "We should try to find some food then come back and eat it in here. I wanna look around some more."

Night nodded and a few moments later, the two headed out the cave to find some fruit to quell their appetites.
