Tales of Xillia

A newer game, it came out sometime last year, and it finally got sent to me through my gamefly as of... a while ago.

So for starters, I'll do my best not to go a spoiler on everyone, but I think it's a really good game. For anyone who has played Tales of Symphonia (and if I am right any other Tales of... game for the most part, though Tales of Symphonia is the only other one I have played) it is made by the same people (to my knowledge) and has pretty much the same battle style/fights. You use a combination of physical attacks and artes (magic) depending on the character you are playing as, and each character has different qualities, pros and cons, for example one of the 6 main characters that you travel with for the most part can't use magic, 3 are healers, and the one is extremely B.A. when it comes to magic, let's just leave it at that (: Also once you get strong enough there are Mystic Artes, which when used while the over-limit meter is fully activated allows you to use a totally kick butt move. Unlike in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World, you cannot tame monsters, but they have introduced something called a Lilium Orb, which is basically like the Crysterium in Final Fantasy 13.

You have totally awesome cut-scenes done in anime, which is one of my favorite parts in ANY game. But the most unique thing I have to say for this game is the story line. You actually get to chose between two variations of the same story line following one of two main characters in their viewpoint. Basically whenever the two characters are separated you play as one instead of the other, but it's more than just that, even though there are quite a few chunks of the game that are different depending on which character you chose because of this. The anime cut-scenes are also different, I've looked up some of the cut-scenes and even though I've played through that part I didn't see that cut-scene, so it's a cut-scene for the alternate character.

There are 6 main characters that eventually make up your Entire group and, although you can only choose two of their story-lines, you can control any of them in battle or just as your roaming character.
The two that are the main-main characters are Milla and Jude, and the others are Alvin, Elize, Rowen, and Leia. They each have their own problems and issues, they are complex each in their own way. My personal favorite is probably Alvin, can't explain unless you want spoilers (: but lets just say sometimes I hate him and love him at the same time haha.

I was getting aggravated for a long time because the story-line kept giving 'false endings' basically faking me out making me think the game was over but then not acutually being over. It did this 5 times. It keeps you jumping that's for sure. It was only annoying me because I have the tendency to get emotional at the end of things, especially the endings for books and games, and some shows, like when I cried at the ending of Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess. Seriously bawled my eyes out and even had a dream about it a few weeks ago 0_0, cried at the end of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red, the one for gamboy advance. Yeah, stayed up all night on a school night and ended up beating it then crying like a baby, but any way, I was frustrated because I kept emotionally preparing myself for the ending of the game and then it wasn't the end!!! But overall, I at least think it's worth the play, although I haven't beaten it yet since I've been so busy with school and then preoccupied with Final Fantasy 13-2 since the release of Lightning's Return is in TWO DAYS. T.T even though I probably won't be able to buy it for a while since I'm broke... Oh well, I was watching trailers for it and it looks amazing, I don't care what anyone says about not liking Final Fantasy 13, I like it, and that's all that matters to me (:
