HELLOs. MintIceCream here(MIC for short) tis a world about me, and the crazy antics of my 5 cats that just love to drive me nuts.
Age-20
Job-substitute teacher
Gender-female
i recently graduated from college with a BS degree in education, certified for art (I'm an art teacher). i currently sub teach while i shop for a job in my content area.
Mindy-my cat, she's a white cat with tabby splotches all over. She's 15 years old, nonsocial, phychotic, and crazy. But i love her all the same.
Texa-my dad's cat primarily, he has a tuxedo style coat. black with a white strip down his belly, on his paws, and the lower half of his face. he's also a manx(no tail) and very talkative. a gentle giant, very lovable, although he doesn't really like me to well. he's 11 years old. (he's also kind of a cranky old @$$)
Bogart-mom's cat. and mine sometimes. the very fat one of our family. he's 7 year old. a brown tabby who loves to raise chaos. he loves to terrorize the adults, and chew on everything. he's also a big pig and will eat anything. even though he's my mom's cat, he loves everyone. he's quite the ladies man. he prefers the company of women over men.
Sammie-Ryan's cat. 7 year old. he is all gray, with thick soft fur. the sweetest cat in the whole world. he isn't all that smart though, and kinda slow. definatley not our brightest bulb, but we love him all the same. he will do anything for a tidbit of human food, so i have managed to teach him a few tricks. his favorite food is gold fish. we try to tell him it's not a real fish, but he doesn't believe us.
Augustus (GUS for short)- everyone's cat. the newest addition to our family, we rescued him from a cousin who should be banned from owning animals. he was 5 weeks old when we got him, so tiny. he's now 3 years old. he is a miniture norwegian forrest cat. all black, orange eyes, and EXTREMLY fluffy. he is the baby of the family, and res1sident ninja/trouble-maker. he is also quite dog like. he will sit and shake paws for a treat, likes to play fetch, loves meeting new people, and go for walks on a leash and harness.
anyways, have fun, and enjoy the power of the minty-ness.
so today i'm at lodging again. weekends are so much easier than weekdays at lodging. for one, management isnt here, so theres no stress related to them watching your every move. theres less traffic, so mostly i spend my 8 hours sitting here at the computer, reading famous cat blogs, shopping, reading online comics and fanfiction. and since management isnt here, i can bring in my yarn and get some crocheting done!
so today, i bought 3 more dance exercise videos. the brand that made the one i bought at walmart yesterday has lots of them with all different kinds of dance styles. and it isnt a complicated for experienced/good dancers only. i am actually able to follow it. so i bought 3 more. i also found this tipsykitty.com, by reading blind oskars blog, and bought 2 tipsy pickles for my herd of cats. theyre green knit pickle looking things stuffed with catnip. oskar and his brother klaus tested them out and gave them a positive review, so im hoping my herd will like them as well.
my plans for this evening consist of hanging out with my friend ashley, and art shopping. ive decided to remake one of my favorite movies as a comic, starring my cats as the main characters. its the movie rio bravo, a western with john wayne. my favorite john wayne western. sadly, i dont have a sketchbook worthy of this great project, so i have to go get one. luckily ashley lives just 1 mile from a walmart and art store. if its nice im going to try to convince her to walk with me to the store. if not, then ill just stop by and grab my sketchbook on the way to her house. but i really want ot walk.
collage of my kittehs! (and you should totally check out lil bub, henri le chat noir, and hilton the hipster cat, these guys are awesome. especially lil bub.)
so today i'm not teaching. i have 2 jobs. one is obviously the sub traching. for the other job, i work at a military base at lodging (hotel for military basically). i work the frost desk, asnwering the phone, checking people in/out. i'm a secretary/front desk clerk person. but this morning, i got a call from a capt. that stays with us frequently, asking me to let my manager know that instead of being picked up at the airport at 10:30, she needed to be picked up at 1:30. i thought this was odd, cause why would my manager be picking her up? she must be important. usually it's us front desk people that run errands, as long as there is two of us at the desk. so i let manager know. then chrissy (co-worker) was like, manager isn't getting her, you are. i was confused. since when was i volunteered to drive to the airport? chrissy said linda decided, but guess what? NO ONE TOLD ME! so i's a good thing the capt called, otherwise i never would have known and no one would have been there to pick her up. it's so frustrating. it seems like communication is a lost art here at lodging. this incident is one of MANY i've had to deal with.
it's been steady busy otherwise. there's a huge navy training group coming in tonight, so i've been doing a lot of prep work to make things easier for swing shift. my poor mom works swings, and i think she's going to be stuck alone most of the night with this huge group coming in. Z is supposed to work tonight too, but says she'll be an hour late, then wants to leave really early. so basically my mom will be alone. poor mommy.
after work i have to shop for groceries, then i have to exercise. i kind of want to do my new dance video, but i'm probably just going to run a few miles on the treadmill instead. then crochet. i've been lazy this week so i'm behind on my weekly crochet quota.
So today i subbed at my favorite elementary school. They call subs guest teachers and give us welcome baggies. It has a microwavable popcorn and bottle of water. And the vice principle remembered me from last time! Most of the time i never get to meet the administrators, but at this elemenrary they always introduce themselves and try to remember you. Very nice.
So i was originally scheduled for half a day, kindergarten feom 8:40-12:15. I love kindergarteners, they are my favorite age. And these kiddos were angels! But the office asked if i would stick around in the afternoon to sub for library, so i did.
After school, i headed to walmart. The plan was mini powdered donuts for mom, a dance exercise video for me, and window washrr fluid for Sardine Can (my car). But when i passed by the $5 dvd bucket, i saw a 20 movie pack of old westerns, a bunch of which have john wayne in them. My dad and i are a big fan of wayne. But in my excitement over the movies i forgot the fliud for sardine can. Dad said he already has some so hopefully he'll share. My front window is awefuy grimy.
So today, i subbed for library. Library is the easiest of anything to sub for. But when i got there, i couldnt find any type of schedule of lesson plane, so i was really freaking out. Turns out the librarian emails her plans to another teacher to drop them off to the sub. And she showed up last second before school started. I had third grade, second grade, two kindergarten, and a first grade class. The third and second graders were brats. The kindergartners were awesome. I love kindergarten, they are my favorite age group. We watched dr. Seuss book cartoons, the sneetches, the lax, and green eggs and ham.
As a bonus, i had lots of free time because the fourth graders were out on a field trip. Ingot lots of crocheting done on the cosplay outfit i'm working on.
So today I subbed for an elementary school, third grade. It reinforced my hatred of grade classrooms. As an art teacher, i'm a specials teacher (such as p.e., art, library, technology, music). So i see kids 45 minutes (or 90 if it's block scheduling), then i send them away and get new one. But grade teachers are stuck with the same kids all day long. I left that class wishing i could tolerate alcohol, cause i really needed a drink. By lunch time i had a massive migraine, was exhausted, and nauseous. And i still had to spend 3 more hours with the brats. I had to call the security officer a few times, some of the kids would not keep their hands off others. I have decided i am NEVER subbing for a grade teacher again. I will sub for middle and high school anything and elementary specials.
As for the rest of the evening, i'm probably going to murder a box of girl scout cookies, nap maybe, and relax and crochet.
