when i got up this morning to call dad like i do every morning, i ended up getting yelled at. mom had forgotten to tell me not to call him, cause was tired. so i decided to et ready for the air show. then i went over to west high school, and rode the shuttle to the base. planes hadn't started up yet, so i wandered around taking pics, going inside the planes that were open, and hitting al the vendors. i got 4 pins. one's a diver, another is a navy blue angel jet, and the other is a set of dogtags in front of the flag that saw POW & MIA never forgotten. the last one says Dear Lord- i have teenagers, please help me to remember what it was like to know everything. i thought it was funny. i'm still a teen, and ryan is entering that stage. i thought mom would find it funny. she didn't dad did though. i also got dad a coin. he loves coin. but this one's square. it's the squadran coin for one of the squadrans on our base. but on the back is all the planes that have ever been held/built here. i know he'll like it. i also got a model airplane kit. it's the SPAD S. VII. a french WWI dual wing plane. it's yellow, w/ a rooster and a #2 on the side.
when the air show started, i hiked over tot he show line, rolled out my blanket, and sat for a few hours, watching all the planes. there was a pearlharbor dogfight between a japenese zero and a mustang, then all the planes that were used in WWII came out and flew together. there were lots of aero acrobatic shows. and heritage flights. eventually i got hungy, so i packed up, hiked over to the food, ate, then went and had to find another spot to roll out my blanket to watch the rest of the show. the navy's blue angels were last. very noisy. there were also the army's golden knights(a parachut team) that performed.
when the blue angels finished, tops in blue was supposed to perform, but they were at the other end. so 1/2 way through the angels, i packed up, and headed over. on the way i got a glitter tatoo. it's a green frog. it's supposed to last 3 days. it feels fuzzy. but then, i had to use the dreaded port-a-potty. it was inevitable, seeing as how i had spent the entire day there. but when i was inside, one of the blue angels roared overhead, and the potty shook. that was very scary. i then secured a spot for the tops in blue performance. at first all they did was slow songs, which was kinda boring, but then they played more upbeat songs. but then they ended the show the way they always do, by singing god bless the usa. makes me miss dad something horrible.
the line to get on the shuttle back to west to get to my car was horrendus. so i decided to walk home. but the impala, so i decided i would walk part way, mom could pick me up, take me to west, then we would drive home. she wasn't enthused by the plan though. but on the way i saw angel. one of mom's friends. she gave me a ride. mom was very happy about that.
tomorrow i'll start posting pics and vids from the air show.
