Morning Light

I was once a timid fox,
By myself, frolicked in the sun
But when people came, I panicked
And I’d turn tail and run

You freed me from my inner darkness
You stopped me from tearing myself apart
You erased my fears and loneliness
So I give to you my heart

You rebuilt my bridge of trust
And you found me, locked inside
Then you broke me out of my shell
Now I no longer have to hide

You saved me from the sinking boat
You guided me out of the stormy sea
I’m not alone, and now I know
You’ll always be there to rescue me

I am like a midday flower
Open for all the world to see
You are my morning light
Letting me be all that I can be
