Love's Poem

Fragrant Red Roses and Raging Fire;
Rich dark Chocolate that lingers, dances on your tongue;
Moonlight strolls in the deepest of Midnight;
Music that courses through your soul, sets it free--
I am there in all of these things.

Beautiful but flighty, I am like a turtle dove:
Both Eternal and Fleeting;
Ever Devoted, yet always Wandering.
Some claim I am nowhere to be found,
But I am here, there, everywhere.

Sometime Whimsical, sometimes Philosophical;
Alternately Selfish and Thoughtful;
Sometimes Joyful, sometimes Painful;
At once Innocent and Knowing--
I can be all of these things.

I keep you company when you're alone,
And I keep you warm on a cold winter's day.
I am known by all life on Earth:
Old one's near Death's Door,
And those not yet part of this world.

When I am with you, or even near you,
You see the beauty in everything
As if you're looking through stained glass painted with sun.
Many spend their lives searching for me...
If only they could see I've been with them all along!

I try, oh I try, so that all remember me,
But nowadays, so little is done in my name.
Often I am crushed before I can stand,
Clipped at the bud before I can grow--
I am needed but forgotten and neglected.

Star-crossed lovers, doomed to fail
Before I was ever in full bloom.
There are days when my presence is forbidden.
But as those two died to prove,
I cannot and will not be controlled by mortal men.

And for those of you who still seek my company
But have given up the search
I beg of you all to try again--
Like all of life, my mysteries seem so complex
Yet in the end, I am the simplest thing of all.
