Why Aren't You Removing Stolen Works? Part 2

Since this comes up so much, I thought I'd give all of you another example to help you further understand why stuff that is reported, isn't always removed. I won't mention the name of the person who reported it, but I will show you the details of what was in the report for plagiarism.

  • THIS NEEDS TO BE REMOVED! I had a wallpaper removed for using a portion of a BG from another wallpaper - "One of your wallpapers was removed for plagiarism. Modifying an existing wallpaper and submitting it as your own is not permitted. Please follow the site terms or you risk stricter moderation." This is BIGGER violation than mine was and it's still here! It's says on the minitolyo page that the artist is hina!!!

This was reported once before and I ignored it since the person was wrong. When I busted the reporter for using this background for one of their own works, they turned around and re-reported the other that I did not remove.

Now the wallpaper in question is this one here. The artist even linked to where they got the original scan from, along with the stock images they used to insert the rose:

The reason I did not remove it is because if you look at the link I was given in the report, it's clear it's not someone else's wallpaper. Proof URL Now just incase anyone missed it, other than the person reporting it of course, I took a screenshot and marked the relevant detail in red:

That's right, it's a scan. It's not a wallpaper. As it says in the site terms: Wallpapers can consist of modified screen shots (or official artwork / manga scans) or your own artwork. So naturally I'm not going to remove it.

Anyway, this is a point that I honestly cannot stress enough. You absoutely have to look further into something before you remove it for being stolen. The same goes for reporting. If you're not sure don't do it. The case with the one from DA was pretty clear that it was someone's work; where the other was simply a scan from the series that the wallpaper artist used.
