-while looking through a weapon magazine that we get in the mail every month-
Brother: Ah, it's a mini-club with a 500,000 volt charge
Me: That's a bit...excessive, don't you think?
Brother: Well if you had somebody attacking you, wouldn't you want it to have 500,000 volts?
Me: Ooo! What if it was a SPIKED electric club?
Brother: Yeah...that's kinda an offensive weapon...
Me: I can see it now: "I swear judge, it was self-defense!"
Brother: Bulls***!
So I finally got this crazy little idea of something to do for this blog on a regular basis: Facepalm News.
To understand it, you must first know what a "facepalm". "Facepalm" is when you bury your face into the palm of one of your hands when you here about something incredibly stupid. It's used when words cannot express how hard something just failed. Now that that's out of the way, let's move on to the first issue!
I was watching Fox News the other day, when I heard about a new children's book entitled "My Beautiful Mommy." Sounds cute enough, right? This glory-destined book isn't your typical children's book though, it's whole point is to explain to a child why his/her mom is getting...wait for it...plastic surgery. And no, not the kind that potentially saves lives, the kind done strictly for aesthetic purposes. Facepalm.
Again on Fox News (see a pattern here?) I saw a story of a class field trip to a dam. Cool enough, then one bright student, 18 years old nevertheless, decides he's going to get in the water...using a kiddie pool. Smart-guy got himself stuck in a spot where the circular motion of the water trapped him and ALMOST killed him. Facepalm.
This last one comes from my Anatomy class. We were going over nutrition, and how Asians are so healthy and skinny, despite being on a high-carb diet of rice. Lady Einstein sitting behind me raises her hand, then asks the following question that questions the intelligence of some people: "Is there, like, a reason that there feet are so small then?" Honestly, she asked that question. I didn't have the heart to tell her about foot-binding, but still, that's sort of a question you don't ask (and I was sitting beside an Asian...). Facepalm.
Hopefully you enjoyed it this week, come back for more in the near future!

About a week ago, I set up my own, private World where I could practice some HTML and CSS to put up on my other Worlds. I noticed that whatever code I put in wouldn't work, giving me a suspicion that was confirmed by Adam yesterday:
Version Vibrant will not allow HTML editing.
Of course I'm disappointed by this, but that's just the way things are. Adam has an ongoing vision for theOtaku, and we have to respect that. He's been at this thing for years, and it's been a great site over that time, so regardless of whether or not we get our HTML-editing, I'll be sticking around.
Also, I'm feeling a little under the weather today. Not just a simple stomach sickness, yet not strong enough to be a bug. Ugh.
I gave a short speech at church Sunday, then was told afterwards that I should do public speaking more often. Perhaps I should join ToastMasters?
I just fixed some major internet issues over here, so I'm back for good now! Look for more posts from now on.
Which brings up the question: what should I post about? My life's too boring to keep writing about, and OCL posts are going on my other World. For now, I think I'll just focus on a variety of content, mostly by highlighting other Worlds. If you have a World to recommend, let me know!
"Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong." In this case, it's an ISP problem. I've gone from having a pretty good Internet-surfing experience to one where I can still surf, but I can't really download ANYTHING. It's also affected my online gameplay, which really bites because I'm trying to turn my Super Smash Bros. Brawl League into a success.
However, I have a pretty good computer knowledge, and I think I may have found the problem. I think it had something to do with the way the ISP I'm with, Windstream, set up my connection. So now I get the joyous job of taking apart my router and modem, then figuring out how to put them together CORRECTLY. Hoo. Rah.
Meanwhile, any knowledge that someone could pass on regarding Double-NAT connections would be much appreciated.
Also, if I haven't responded to a PM you sent, please try to send it again. And don't forget to tell people about my Super Smash Bros. Brawl League!
