Job update + merch ideas

Currently working on: nothing, but constantly thinking about these overwatch standees that i don't really wanna work on LOL.....

I felt so weird not putting "mood" and "currently working on" in the beginning of the post like I used to back when I posted here in middle/high school LOL.... so I'm back to doing that I guess. Anyway just feel like rambling about whatever!

Job update
Working in international admissions at the uni is going well! I think I'm definitely getting accustomed to doing things in the office. I mostly answer emails all day but that's fine for me, I like answering questions and explaining things LMAO... and so far there's always been new stuff to learn. It's a lot of memorizing random stuff but I'm taking a lot of notes so it's not so bad. Kinda wild that so many people email us questions tho, like it seems like some of this stuff should just be available on the uni website.......... maybe it is but it's just deliberately hard to find so that people email us. so that we have something to do i guess. (???????????? i'm exaggerating but still lskdjfs)

Really the main downside to working rn is it's hard to make friends...;; there's not a ton of people directly near where I work & most people in the office seem a bit older than me (like late 30s to mid 40s), usually with kids and stuff which is highly not relatable to me;;;;;;;;;; I'm trying my best to be moderately friendly tho, idk. I chat with this other new hire sometimes (again she's a little older than me) & we don't really have a lot in common but idk it's fine enough.

Current merch plans
I think I mentioned that I make merch for cons/etc sometimes? So I guess I'll be rambling about that here occasionally lol

Rn I'm waiting on a roadrat link charm, some sonic chamrs, and some misc restocks to arrive from the manufacturer I use... looking forward to seeing how they turn out! I'm trying out a different wood for this standee restock bc the last batch I did broke kinda easily. T_T hope this slightly more expensive wood is a little stronger... if it still breaks easily I'm gonna try to look into another manu but idk they're already kind of one of my more expensive merch items;; it's hard with overwatch merch because a lot of the fanbase is relatively young (like high school to college age) so they don't have a ton of spending money. I wanna try to keep things affordable for them. :T

I've been thinking of adding more to the standee lineup that I currently have... this is the current lineup:

...and I was thinking of adding Venture (new OW character), D.Va, and Lúcio since I know they're usually pretty popular. I've been so not in the mood to draw any characters other than my OW favs, tho................... especially learning how to draw Venture bc I've never drawn them before. So not inspiring to me rn. T_____T I'll hopefully get to it eventually though...

Other than that, I've been mildly inspired by the new lifeguard skins they added to Overwatch this summer. Some of the actual designs are kinda meh (like junkrat's......... idk they were so lazy with his), but the concept is still cute. Lifeguard mercy is like one of my fav skins lmao;;; I was thinking of doing maybe buttons or something featuring a few of the lifeguard skins, but idk exactly what yet. It'll prob be Junkrat, Roadhog, Mercy, and Lifeweaver, tho.

I've also been wanting to do something with plush buttons since I found a plush button manufacturer kinda recently. no idea what, though.... it'd be best for something cute/cozy, but I already do pillow charms with a sorta sleepytime/pajama theme so...??? it'd have to be something else.......... maybe a theme that's kinda nonsense but moe like cat ears or something LOL;; or maids. idk I've come around on maids fsr they're tacky but I can appreciate the cheese. (???)

anyway just spitballing ideas... prob not gonna draw for a couple more days since finishing up my last comic kinda wore me out. I should probably work on the last two comms I have anyway before I get started on other stuff.

Life Update!

Ok!! thought I'd make a more formal post about mildly coming back to theO. Not super sure how active I'll be here because I always forget it exists, but I'll try to pop in every now and then. I'm gonna hopefully add a bunch of new stuff to my portfolio here too after I post this world post... hoping my file sizes aren't too gigantic for theO, it's been a while since I've posted here lmao

Anyway!! Not really sure who's still active here, but hello to anyone who is and is reading this! I'll just do a quick re-introduction of myself as an artist since it's been a while.

I joined theO back in like 2008 when I was in middle school and mostly drew Super Smash Bros fan art. Around high school I started to focus more on drawing OCs, which I mostly documented in my "Various Planning" world. (it's all so old and embarrassing but like i'm not gonna delete it, i'm just gonna keep it up for posterity lmaooo....) For most of my time as an artist I've been primarily an OC artist, but around 2020 I started to get more into drawing fan art! Most of my fan art and comics are shipping-focused. I draw lots of kinds of pairings and also poly ships. I consider myself primarily a sfw artist, but I do sometimes draw and talk about adult-themed content so be aware of that I guess. :0

Here's the fandoms I'm currently focused on/have been focused on in the recent past:

Overwatch (2016-2017, late 2022-present)
I don't actually play Overwatch (i'm extremely bad at first-person shooters), but I have a mild interest in the lore overall & I'm primarily focused on Junkrat and Roadhog. I ship Junkrat/Roadhog (open relationship), but I also often draw Junkrat/Mercy and Junkrat/Roadhog/Mercy. I also ship Junkrat and Roadhog with various other characters (Lifeweaver, Cassidy (formerly McCree), etc). If you're interested you can read more about my HCs here! :P

Pokemon Sword and Shield (Late 2020-present)
I have played Pokemon SWSH, but as far as Pokemon goes I'm actually primarily a fan of the gym leaders/trainers instead of the pokemon LMAO;; My favorite character is Gym Leader Kabu, and I ship him with a lot of characters. The main SWSH ships I draw are Kabu/Raihan/Leon, Milo/Piers, and Kabu/Peony/Melony (<as young adults), but I'm kinda wild and free when it comes to the SWSH cast sldkjflsf you can read more about my SWSH relationship headcanons here. :m
(also this is true for everything I ship, but especially for SWSH just know that I perfer to hc all the characters I ship as meeting and befriending each other when they're adults.)

Pokemon Masters Ex/Pokemas/Pokemon Mobile Game (2021-ish - present-ish)
This game isn't super popular but Pokemon has a mobile gacha game for the trainers + alt outfits and stuff like that lol.... I think it's really cute! I actually have a big soft spot for the mobile game-exclusive characters Lear, Sawyer, and Rachel. You may see me draw them or talk about them on occasion. Some of my SWSH headcanons are occasionally influenced by PokeMas story plots as well. (I don't super keep up with the PokeMas plot bc it's kinda basic but I like reading the plots for events w specific characters I like)

Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal (or HGSS) (originally played as a kid, sometimes draw since 2021-ish)
I don't really know the gen 2 cast or plot super well anymore but for some reason I really like Gym Leader Pryce (the old guy LOL)..... I ship him with Kabu sometimes. (???????????????)
I also like Falkner and Morty as characters and have drawn them on occasion, but I don't have super strong headcanons for them.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (early 2020 - mid/late 2020)
I haven't really drawn any ZE stuff in a while but I was SUPER into the 2nd game for a good chunk of 2020. My fav character is Sigma Klim (the protag), and as I am wont to do with my fav character I ship him with a billion people. (?????) The main ships I'm interested in are Sigma/Akane, Sigma/Clover, Sigma/Alice, Sigma/Junpei, and Sigma/Luna. Most of these ships are for a college AU that I used to draw, but I also explore some of them in canon. If you want you can read about my college AU here!
(Also idk who's played VLR but just b aware that I've never played ZTD (last game in the series) and I don't hc Sigma as having familial feelings for Luna since that's not how they were portrayed in VLR.) (if you have no idea what I'm talking about. dw about it lsfjlsjdf)

...and I think that's about all I draw for at the moment! I like other stuff too but I don't really have strong headcanons for anything else. I also still draw my OCs on occasion, but I'm not as focused on them as I used to be a few years ago. You can find more interests of mine here.

Other than art and fandom, I guess I can give a life update! I got my degree in Linguistics and Japanese in 2017, and then my masters in Linguistics and English in 2019. Lived in Japan as an English teacher from 2019-2021, moved back to the states and taught English to international students at my alma mater for a bit, and now I work part time at my alma mater in the international admissions department. (I just started last week actually. :0) This is my first wage job since leaving Japan and I'm like.... extremely skittish and weird about it (idk I've never been very comfortable in work settings) but idk I'm doing my best and learning as much as I can. Hoping to get a full time job that pays ok soon enough..... TuT)9 I also have been doing art merch on the side & my Etsy has been going pretty well for me, but that's more a hobby than an income thing.

Anyway that's about it from me at the moment! Might try to treat this world like a diary kinda like I used to in middle/high school, so hopefully I'll be back to talk abt random stuff again soon enough. I'm gonna go and update my portfolio here with a couple things now. ^^
