Kagome came running out of the temple shrine. Her raven hair glistened in the sunlight as she made her way towards her home. She’d been away for a while. She was excited to finally be home. She’d not seen her mother in a long time, and she’d missed her. Which was relatively understandable. Her mother was all that she had, other than her brother, Sota, and her grandpa. However, they couldn’t go to the other world with her. They were bound to this time, and she was connected to both in a way that she could never fully understand.
Trailing along behind her was Inuyasha. His arms were crossed over his chest as he calmly followed Kagome. She was important on his quest. She was the priestess who could see the sacred jewel, but she hadn’t been the first priestess to do so. His mind began to wonder to Kikyo. Kagome was her reincarnation, but they were entirely different. They resembled each other, but that was as far as their likeness went. He wasn’t happy about returning to Kagome’s world. He wanted to find the sacred jewel shards, but Kagome had managed to demand her return. Promising him a bag of potato chips if he cooperated.
"Mom! I'm home!" Kagome yelled as she slung open the door. She quickly removed her shoes and began making her way through the entrance hall. “Mom?” she repeated.
"I’m in the kitchen," Kagome's mom replied in the distance. She was used to Kagome being off at random times and coming back at random times.
Inuyasha stood behind Kagome. He was still irritated that she had to keep coming to this world. It slowed down their searching. Kagome suddenly turned to look at him as his mood began to become sullen. "Can you take this to my room ? " she asked, as she held out her backpack.
With his returning irritation he took the backpack from her hand and began to glide up the stairs. "What ever," was all he said.
Now that Kagome had gotten rid of the little sour-puss, she could skip off to the kitchen. A warm sent of freshly cooked food welcomed her as she slid into the room. She glanced at the table noticing there were four places set to the table. How did her mom know she was coming home? Her family was gathered at the table, watching her as she moved towards the table.
“Wow! You’ve already made dinner. I’m starving.” Kagome sat down at the fourth plate. Her brother was snickered as she set down.
“That’s not for you, idiot,” Sota laughed.
Kagome laughed him off. “Of course it’s for me, who else would it be for?”
" I'm sorry dear, but that plate is for some one else,” her mother replied, turning to look at her sheepishly. “I’m sorry, I’ll fix something up for you in a moment.”
Kagome hadn’t known of anyone that would come and eat at her house. She glanced at her mom, giving her a once over. She wasn’t dressed up. She was wearing one of her usual ensembles with an apron on over it. No make-up. No fixed hair. Just a regular mom.
"Huh? But who..?" She began, but quickly her words fell short. There was a curdling scream echo down the hall. Kagome’s reaction was the quickest reaction. She stood quickly running towards the noise. Fear corrupting her heartbeat, moving it quicker than death. The noise had came from her room, and instinct told her that beyond that door she would find Inuyasha facing a demon that had managed to survive in her world. One that was after the sacred jewel, but when she opened the door she saw none of that.
"You jerk! Who do you think you are walking in on a girl like that while shes changing clothes?!" A woman was standing over Inuyasha, screaming at him. She was wearing nothing but her undergarments, and it didn’t take Kagome long to assess the situation. Inuyasha had walked in on the girl as she had been changing clothes when he came to Kagome’s room to toss her backpack down. There was something else Kagome was staring at, though. Something that she couldn’t believe.
The woman’s hair was a waterfall of ebony, reaching nearly to her ankles. Alabaster skin was brightened with a furious blush on her cheeks. She looked like a porcelain doll, but lacking the features that would have made her appear childish. Her eyes were as dark as her hair. Kagome recognized her instantly.
"Owww!! Who are you?!" Inuyasha asked laying on the ground, a huge bump on his head. When he had entered the room to find the woman changing, she had picked up the nearest thing and lunged it at him, and it just so happened to hit his head.
"Shion?!" Kagome stared at the woman emphatically. She thought she was imagining it, because there was no way that this could be real.
The woman slowly raised her eyes from Inuyasha to Kagome. A beautiful smile reaching her eyes and embracing warm emotions over Kagome.
“Kagome,” the woman replied with a grin. She was as excited to see Kagome, but her enthusiasm was held back. She had been trained to remain calm, and while this wasn’t a bad time to become zealous, she held herself back.
“Is it really you?” Kagome asked, still in disbelief.
The woman’s smile grew even more beautiful and wide, if that was possible. She nodded to Kagome, still forcing herself to remain calm. Kagome, however, had no intention of staying calm. She rushed past the injured Inuyasha and embraced her.
“Shion!” She exclaimed. “I can’t believe you’re really here!!”
