It all started when I was 4.
I ALWAYS watched Playhouse Disney (you may laugh), I never watched the news (that sure caused my parents rage), never watched other TV shows on other channels EXCEPT Playhouse Disney.
Then when I was 5, I was a little bigger so I was kind of bored with Playhouse Disney (PD). I browsed some channels, and found a channel named Animax.
I'm not familiar with anime yet, I didn't get any interest to Animax, because in that age I don't quite like anime-style; it somewhat made me...hurt? Yes, hurt, I don't know why. So I kept watching cartoons, I started to watch Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney Channel.
Still when I was 5, I finally made a decision to watch Animax. I watched Cardcaptor Sakura, and I must say I fell in love with the series. When I was waiting for Cardcaptor Sakura to on-air, there was Yu Yu Hakusho, I watched it and I fell in love with it too, I hated the series previously.
When my interest on anime is getting higher, and you know YYH: full of rude words (for my age at that time), bullying etc, I occasionally didn't noticed that I say those rude words in front of my parents. My dad got mad and the next day when I was about to watch Animax while breakfast, Animax wasn't there! My dad came and said 'You can't watch Animax ANY MORE!', he said my attitude is broken because of anime, and he hated all anime since that.
3 years later, when I was 8, our TV cable changed name, and that means we get all of the channels from the start we had this TV, that means Animax is BACK dude! ;)
I know what will happen if I watch Animax in front of my dad so I decided to watch it when my dad was away. My mom actually didn't agree with anyone, she let me watch Animax. My fave show at that age was Naruto, I didn't watch Animax that much because of Naruto is not on Animax. Like YYH; Naruto is full of bullying, blood, and rude words....I didn't do that, but I became lazy because of Naruto. My dad didn't delete the channel that was serving it but he said 'YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WATCH NARUTO EVER AGAIN!' I lost my fave anime for the 2nd time.
Months after that I buyed an Indonesian magazine that was about anime, Animonster. According to the surveys it's the best teen magazine in Indonesia. And I must agree with it. On Animonster's 9th Birthday, December, I buyed 117th edition and it was an update for D. Gray-Man anime. I fell in love with the characters, especially when I Youtube-ed the anime, I watched episode 3 and was really surprised to hear Allen Walker wants a Fried Rice that was called Nasi Goreng in Indonesia (yep, it's from Indonesia), but Allen says it as 'Nashigoren'. I laughed really hard, I love this anime.
A year after that I was allowed to watch Naruto, so I'm in bloom, but then I raged to see that Naruto's time is being destroyed by an anime called Eyeshield 21. I hate that anime so much, but other people seems to like it. My rage was on top to see that Animonster is also serving it on 123rd edition. I read the mag, and I was a little interested to buy the manga although I don't quite like the series, YET. I was amazed by Yuusuke Murata's art, how he knows a lot of human anatomy, and was amazed by the character development. Since then I love that manga until now this post was written.
Because of almost every manga/anime I like is a shonen manga/anime, I often talk with boys and not girls, mainly because the girls are more attracted to shoujo mangas (I hate shoujou mangas because the humor is so childish and un-funny, and also the stories; WHY ROMANCE? WRYYY), the boys are starting to talk with me too. The first girl I know who is attracted to my fave shonen mangas is my sister. She likes all anime I like, except that the ones she doesn't get to watch like D. Gray-Man, Cardcaptor Sakura (she's not born yet at that time), and Yu Yu Hakusho.
Until now, I still like anime, and I'm proud of it.
