Wake up

Szayel took a deep breath as he poured over paperwork. Leaning back, he ran a gloved hand through his pink locks, tilting his neck to the sides to loosen his tense muscles. And then, a mental alarm went off in his head. “That’s right! It’s finally time!” He cried out, jumping from his seat and heading into his lab. Deep within, he threw on the light above the table in which Akil lied. His sadistic smirk crossed his lips as he approached and did a quick analysis on the patient’s progression.

Turning and taking a syringe in his grip, he flicked it lightly, smiling as he injected the strange substance into the unconscious man. Throwing the emptied syringe onto the counter, he leaned against it in anticipation. Adjusting his glasses lightly, he began a light countdown under his breath.

“3.…

…2...

1...”

Akil thrashed on the lab table, shooting up and falling over the side to the ground below. Coughing and hacking, he seemed unable to even find the air. And then he went completely silent as he lay facedown on the ground.

“Get up. You aren’t so weak as to succumb to this.” Szayel spoke in a cold tone. “You survived the modification. That in itself was quite a feat. And while you are still imperfect, you’re certainly an improvement.” There was still no movement. He laughed. “Very well. When you can gather yourself up, report to your chambers. You will find your new uniform within. Specially tailored to my exact instruction of course.” Turning, he made his way to the door. He heard a slight muttering, yet he didn’t turn around. “Make it quick. Your training will begin promptly. Rest your body for the night if you have to…but I have given you three days to recover already. If you think you are prepared…report to my chambers after dressing properly.”

Without another word, he exited the area. Lumina and Verona bumbled in after, bouncing beside Akil and watching him. They would follow him to his chambers and report to Szayel his every action.
